The Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) has reached a five-point ceasefire agreement with the Burmese government, becoming the latest ethnic armed group to sign a deal. The state-run New Light of Myanmar said the two sides held talks in Taunggyi, Shan State, on Sunday and agreed to halt attacks and withdraw to designated areas. On June 27, PNLO leader Khun Ukka met with the government’s chief peace negotiator, Aung Min, and agreed on a seven-point draft agreement. Burma has reached a number of truces since reforms started last year, but conflict continues in Kachin State.
