January 25, 200620 yr Hi All I just received a Money Gram Money Order from the US. I went to SCB Asok and the people there told me that i needed an 8 digit code. When i contacted the sender , he told me that its only in the case of MONEYGRAM that you need the code , not in the case of MOney order. Please suggest how to cash the Money Order in bangkok.. Thanks! Edited January 25, 200620 yr by psychosid10
January 25, 200620 yr ALL Moneygram transactions have an 8 digit reference number which you need to receive payment. Your friend should check his receipt, the number will be on there.

Thanks! see www.moneygram.com/ A MoneyGram is what your friend should have sent (they provide you with an 8 digit code). Seems like a Money Order is usually used to pay bills so you would need a local bank account, unlike a MoneyGram which is paid in cash. Naka.
January 26, 200620 yr Author Thanks Backpack , Naka for your replies , Well what my friend has sent me is a MoneyGram International Money Order .. n it has not 8 digit code whatsoever .. all it has is the MO # .. i mailed Moneygram "i have received a moneygram international money order. Please assist me in getting it cashed. Some banks that accept MOneygram asked me for an 8 digit number which i imagine is only in the case of MOneyGram and not MoneyOrder." THEIR REPLY " Dear Customer, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific location that we can refer you to that will cash the money order. We suggest that you cash the money order at your bank of deposit, or you may be able to cash the money order at a check cashiers/currency exchange located in your area. If you have additional questions, please contact us by email or call 1-800-542-3590. Sincerely, MoneyGram International Customer Service" I guess i am better off sending this piece of paper back to my friend so that he can atleast get it refunded ..
January 26, 200620 yr so you don't have a bank account you can use? have you tried a currency exchange place or even another bank? Did your friend think he was transfering the money? That would have been a lot easier - maybe he can enquire how to get a refund and transfer it vis normal moneygramme.
