Australian Sim Card Combatibility For Thai Iphone

Featured Replies

I posted about this elsewhere before I found this topic so please excuse.

I've just bought an Iphone here in Thailand and I'm now wondering if an Australian sim card can be used it in for Australia. I'm aware that sim cards need to be cut down to size to fit an Iphone here in Thailand but the chip on the Australian sim card is more narrow and wider that the Thai version and I don't know if the Aussie sim card will be combatible because of the difference in chip size.

Any help from someone who's experienced the same thing and knows how to get around it would be appreciated

SIM cards will be available from a telco for your iPhone in Australia. Later models of iPhones require a smaller SIM card, they are not "cut down" versions, but standard supply

Thanks Simple1.

I know very little about Iphones having not had one before but someone told me that the Australian Iphones accept the full size sim cards but I don't know how true it is.

A friend just had his Russian wife here and bought her the same phone. He cut her Russian sim card down on which the chip looked to be the same size as the Aussie one and it worked OK. But.... I want to be 100% sure before I do anything radical like chopping my Aussie sim card down because if it doesn't work, I'll need to use my old phone as soon as i get off the plane in OZ.

Your iPhone takes a MicroSIM, there are industry-standard and available anywhere/everywhere, including from mobile providers in Australia.

Most now come in this format, where you can utilize it as a standard SIM, or snap it out for use as a Micro SIM.
