Another month in prison for this democracy fighter! Good for him, though with his newly acquired media attention and consequent pr value, he might make a nice MP when the next reshuffle comes along!

Court rejects Red Shirt activist Jeng Dokchik's bail bid

insufficient indication that he repented his actions

the nonsense about apologizing AFTER he was released probably didn't help his case for repenting

oh well, enjoy your stay, Dokjik.

The "political prison" digs don't seem that bad compared to other possible housing.

You don't even have to wear leg-irons on your way back

see ya back again later this month when you re-re-reapply for bail... coffee1.gif

perhaps next time get Yingluck to sign on as a bail guarantor.

.

Great news. Is there going to be another appeal? I don't see how the Justice Minister can retain his job now. The loss of face of him presenting a letter of guarantee to the court and they refuse to accept it is massive. Also, those guards need to watch what they are doing Dokchik could easily take his left hand out of those handcuffs.

You are right. That left handcuff is really loose. Another Red show for sympathy.

The court could be somewhat prejudiced. I mean they did grant bail to and did not revoke from others. Maybe those were more important, better connected, PAD related figures like k. Jatuporn & Arisman, Pheu Thai party list MPs and UDD leaders Nattawut, Dr. weng wink.png

Yoswarit's bail request rejected

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court today rejected the request of redshirt leader Yoswarit Chuklom to be released on bail on the grounds that he has not done enough to show his remorse.

The court announced its decision at 11am, a day after the court heard the testimonies of Yoswarit, who is better known by his professional name as comedian Jeng Dokjik, his witnesses and that of Democrat MP Democrat MP Nipit Intharasombat.

Yoswarit, assistant secretary to Deputy Interior Minister Thanis Thienthong, was brought from the Laksi Remand Prison to hear the court's decision. His wife, Karuna Moris, redshirt movement chairwoman Thida Thavornset and some redshirt people also attended the court session to provide moral support to the defendant.

In its order, the court said Yoswarit had intentionally violated his bail conditions and behaved in a way that could lead to danger against others. Prior to his bail being revoked, Yoswarit announced the names and phone numbers of the Constitution Court judges during a rally to pressure the court to rule in favour of charter amendments.

The Criminal Court stated in the order that although Yoswarit said he was sorry and felt remorse for his action and said he would send a letter apologising to the seven Constitution Court judges, he had so far taken no action to indicate that he would keep his word after his release.

The Criminal Court also reasoned that Yoswarit had just been detained for two weeks, which was too short for think about his actions and how he might exercise selfrestraint after his release.

After the court announced its decision, Yoswarit appeared worried and his wife and Thida walked over to talk to him.

Winyatti Chartmontree, Yoswarit's lawyer, said Yoswarit would send a letter to the seven Constitution Court judges to apologise next week.

Why would it be a loss of face to the Justice Minister? He put forward a guarantee that Dokchik basically wouldn't do a runner. The courts decided that Dokchik had not been contrite enough to warrant a second chance at bail. Thats it, and as for the guards needing to watch out? You've been soaking up too much propaganda on here - what do you think he was going to do, whip his hand out of the cuffs, overpower the guards and head for the hills? Oh I forgot he's a terrorist........................

Oh dear?!! , here's what Dokchik can do in those handcuffs =

Sad man you are. Whatever the Reds do is ok. Loose handcuffs is not normal. But if you are Red, you can get away with murder.

Apologies and acts of contrition are more credible when not quite so self -serving.

But at least he'll know where to send them.

A more accurate depiction from reporters on the scene at the courthouse in Bangkok is available in the other paper regarding the issue of what the Justice Minister testified to in court and the subsequent ruling by the judges relative to that testimony.

The other paper's report includes information that both the Justice Minister and Thaksin's cabinet minister testified at the hearing that Dokjik would behave, but that the judges said it was only their personal opinion and thus carried no weight.

What, literally? Or are you confused with the democrat MP chappy, just how is his pre-meditated murder trial going anyway? Is the red shirt guy responsible for the loose handcuffs? Or do you think the loose handcuffs were a special consideration just because he is a red shirt "leader"? Just how many leaders are there? So many questions so little time................

And your point is? So the Justice Minister testified on his behalf, the judges said it was a personal opinion that carried no weight, which is fair enough. It's like me saying you will never admit you're wrong and you saying thats just my opinion that holds no weight. Fine. No face lost there.

:cheesy:

First point was that the Justice MInister testified to more than "he wouldn't do a runner"... and secondly, as personal guarantors go, the Justice Minister showed that he carried no more weight than a plastic scrap collector. That his personal opinion mattered not one iota more than some homeless drifter. Nope, No loss of face in that.

Say again, check general and yes, dear bucholz, i often have something on topic to say in the news forum.

True! But if I would claim that Bangkok is the capital of Vietnam and Jeng is a Chinese soup, I would be on topic as well! Not that it would make any sense!

Yes you did forget..... He is! And you support him ....ponder on that a while!

As per loss of face on the part of the JM...ponder on this as well.... The political boss of the judicary says let the comedian go free and the judicary say <deleted> you, not a chance! Enough loss of face to warrant seppuku in Japan and at least resignation in 80% of the worlds countries. Your statements are becoming ever more extraordinary and desperate, unbelievable really.

Ah you forgot, he has not been found guilty of terrorism - I'm not even sure if he's been charged with terrorism? Once again you make these logic leaps. Now I support him? I was just pointing out the hysteria over the loose handcuffs and supposed lost face for the Justice Minister. As for lost face, they don't fall on their sword , so to speak, in Japan anymore. The last guy to do so was in 2001 over financial difficulties. The last "real" seppuku for reasons of "face" would have been Mushimo, 1970. Resignation in 80% of the worlds countries? This is Thailand.

Still "extraordinary and desperate, unbelievable really".

Well each to their own, wouldn't do for us all to be alike, otherwise seppuku might become popular again................

Yoswarit's bail request rejected

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court Wednesday rejected request of red-shirt leader Yoswarit Chuklom to be released on bail.

The court reason that there was no enough reasons to convince the court that Yoswarit, better known as Jeng Dokjik, had really felt sorry for his violation of the bail conditions that caused his bail to be revoked on August 22.

A bit strange don't you think so when the justice minister is helping a Red shirt leader? If you don't think it is strange..then never mind..

Correct no face to lose if you don't have one.

I think the were planning a weekend tripp to Dubai for golf and dinner with Thaksin, something made from a dead goat. cheesy.gif

Update:

Yoswarit 'not remorseful enough' to be granted bail

THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court yesterday rejected bail for red-shirt leader Yoswarit Chooklom on grounds that he had not shown enough remorse for pressuring Constitution Court justices to rule in favour of charter amendments.

According to the Criminal Court's ruling, Yoswarit was temporarily released on August 22 but he intentionally breached his bail conditions and behaved in a manner that could lead other people to feel threatened.

During a rally, Yoswarit had revealed the names and phone numbers of the justices, which resulted in the revocation of his temporary release. The Criminal Court found that although Yoswarit said he was sorry and would send a letter of apology to the seven justices, he had taken no action to indicate that he would keep his word after his release.

The Criminal Court also reasoned that Yoswarit had been detained for just two weeks, so he could not yet convince the court that he really repented his actions. The short period would not be enough for Yoswarit to reflect on his behaviour and practice self-restraint if he was released again. The court read its verdict out at 11am after hearing on Tuesday the testimonies of Yoswarit, better known by his comedian moniker of Jeng Dokjik, his witnesses and MP Nipit Intharasombat from the opposition Democrat Party.

Yoswarit, assistant secretary to Deputy Interior Minister Thanis Thienthong, was taken from Bangkok Remand Prison in Laksi to hear the court's decision. His wife Karuna Moris, red-shirt chairwoman Thida Thavornset and some red-shirt followers also attended the session. After the court decision, Yoswarit's wife and Thida walked over to talk to him. Winyatti Chartmontree, Yoswarit's attorney, said Yoswarit would send a letter of apology to the seven justices next week.

Democrat MP Satit Pitutecha filed a complaint with the Ombudsman, accusing Justice Minister Pracha Promnok of violating the code of conduct for political office holders because they must not contact and support someone whose behaviour had been improper and disgraceful.

Pracha had testified to the court on Tuesday that Yoswarit would behave after his release.
