And very happy that I did. I support countries and manufacturers the produce the best product for the best price, so they can continue do so. Yes, all better and more affordable ... BEV,s; car, MC, ebike, drones, some camera gear, some appliances & our Solar system. Feel free to spend more on inferior products ... UP2U -

Here we go. Mega MAGA Mess is coming. Is SS, MediCare etc gone... soon?
The left argues against any non-military budget cuts. Now they be arguing that because the $2T cut seems impossible, no cuts should be made. It reminds me of when they said that the wall should not be built because it would not keep out 100% of illegal aliens. -

Sattahip Police Use Sign Language to Calm Deaf Woman in Suicide Crisis
Picture courtesy of Sattahip News In a display of professionalism, Sattahip police officers successfully calmed a young deaf woman attempting suicide by communicating with her through sign language. The incident occurred at 16:30 on December 10, when Sattahip Police Station's radio centre received a distress call about a person attempting suicide. The woman, approximately 20 years old, was found on Sukhumvit Road near Yang Ngam Soi, Sattahip Subdistrict. She had inflicted multiple cuts on her neck with a knife and was threatening to jump into traffic. Police officers and rescue personnel from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene. Despite initial challenges in communicating with the woman, officers spent nearly an hour attempting to de-escalate the situation. Their breakthrough came when two officers, Pol. Sgt. Maj. Wiwat Khamsri and Pol. Cpl. Chakri Khampimoon, utilised sign language to communicate with her, ultimately persuading her to abandon her suicide attempt. According to a friend of the woman, the crisis was triggered after her phone broke during a night out drinking, leaving her unable to contact her family. Pol. Sgt. Maj. Wiwat Khamsri and Pol. Cpl. Chakri Khampimoon have been lauded as exemplary officers for their calm demeanor and effective communication, which brought the crisis to a peaceful resolution. Their actions serve as an inspiring reminder of the critical role of compassion and understanding in helping those in vulnerable situations. The incident also sheds light on the broader need for officers to develop unique skills beyond their routine duties to address sensitive situations effectively. By demonstrating patience, understanding, and resourcefulness, the Sattahip Police have set an example of crisis intervention and community care. -- 2024-12-10 -

EV Owners Frustrated as Samui Ferries Restrict EV Transport Over New Year Period
Regarding the weight concerns / comments: these are, frankly, unfounded. Ferries are specifically engineered to accommodate a wide range of vehicle weights, with safety hinging on proper weight distribution and strict adherence to load capacity limits, standards that ferry operators are expected to enforce diligently (theoretically). Drawing comparisons to the iPhone vs Android or Mac vs PC debates, this argument about EV weight stems more from bias than factual reasoning. Individuals often cherry-pick information to suit their preconceptions, rather than engaging with evidence and forming balanced conclusions. Unfortunately, this article achieves little more than showcasing the lack of critical thinking within the company in question. It inadvertently arms the anti-EV faction with superficial talking points, which they will eagerly exploit to perpetuate their bias agenda. A factual analysis would reveal that the risks associated with EVs and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles on ferries are virtually indistinguishable. The real issue here as I see it is the apparent knee-jerk decision-making within the company, which casts doubt on its overall operational competence. The inconsistency is telling: if the alleged risk were genuine, why impose a ban on EVs only during the New Year period? Such a policy seems purely emotional, driven by someone in a position of authority within the company who lacks the requisite technical knowledge. This raises broader concerns about other decisions that may be made with similarly flawed reasoning, particularly where safety is concerned. I would avoid this company with an ICE or an EV due to the outright stupidity of this announcement - IMO they've shot themselves in the foot, though I fear many are not smart enough to recognise this. -

non O based on marriage visa extension
Ok - apologies - and perhaps topic for a different thread but ... Short form: Have you checked with the French pension office to see if you can change this by a small OFFICIAL pension payment? Long form: I worked for just over 4.5 years in Germany in a Germany registered company, and I initially only contributed to the German pension system for those 4.5 years. One needs to contribute to the German pension system for 5 years (in addition to working for some TBD period (I can't recall details)). I went to the local German tax office (with a German friend who could translate if needed - but as it turns out a translator wasn't needed). The German pension official was very helpful. He noted because of an agreement between Germany and Canada (where I worked for 27 years in Canada) that time working in Canada qualified me for a German pension , IF I would have contributed for 5 years to the German system. The German pension official then did a calculation, and advised if I sent the German government some amount of money (to bring my contribution from ~4.5 years to 5 years equivalent). He printed out on the spot an official letter advising me of this. As soon as I was home that night, I immediately transferred money to the German government, and within about a month or so I started receiving a pension. A few months of pension payments PAID for the amount I gave to the German government. Mind you, I was 20 years older than you. So ok ... at age-45 you are not old enough to receive a pension ... but keep your records here ... and when you have the chance , dependent on your circumstances, it may be worth your while the next time you are in France to visit the government office to see what if anything can be arranged. And if you have already done such - my apologies for (1) suggesting an investigation you have already done , and (2) apologies for slightly side tracking this thread. -

You’re the one with the issue. Biden is weak and worthless. Trump is taking charge like a leader. Your special condition prevents you from acknowledging the truth. You can do nothing about Trump’s leadership except sit back and cry. -
