September 6, 201213 yr Soon I have to make obligatory trip to meet the in-laws. As they speak no English and my Thai is not much better I had hoped to escape at times and find some farang company in the city. Any suggestions?
September 7, 201213 yr Yeah The White Elephant or Pizza 101 (which is next to the lake) would probably be good options for bumping into other farang. You'll be staying in RoiEt City? Or in one of the outlying districts?
September 7, 201213 yr That is one of the problems marrying a Thai girl. Take a good book with you and your laptop if you have one, then just look up and smile occassionally.

But it makes it easier for my wife to relax, enjoy herself with her family and not have to translate from Issan to English all the time. It is easier for everyone if I am not sitting around all the time grinning like a zombie trying to listen to a language I do not understand.. It also gives me a break too. Everyone, I hope, will be happy. I will be staying in the city and thanks for the contributions.
