Pub Pinklao

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any decent pubs or bars in the Pinklao area. I am looking for somewhere to have a few beers after work or on the weekend. I have had a bit of a look around Khao Sarn Rd etc but I would prefer somewhere less touristy, preferably with a few expats to chat to.

Cheers

Nick

There's a place called the 'Overstay'. Can't remember the name of the road but if you've just came out of Mcdonalds, do a right, walk up to the next main junction and it's on your right. Only foreigners, Thais wouldn't be seen dead in the place. Beers cheap, floors dirty, toilets never been cleaned. Quality establishment, hence the name!! From what I can remember there's not that much in the way of 'expat bars' in the area but opposite Mcdonalds is soi 17, there's a little bar down there on your right that used to get a few farangs in.

I visited Over Stay last night, not many customers though. I will check back in the a few weeks. The one near McDonalds was called The Tree House. It doesn't seem to be open any longer.

Head over Bridge away from Kao Sarn and all along the right hand side are loads of places to drink and enjoy. Towards first main intersection a lot of Thai bars and good people. Wish I was there now.

I've been there a couple of times. I wanted to like the kitschy, eclectic vibe, but it ended up being just dirty and weird. They're friendly, though, I give it that. Seems to mostly be a bunch of young teachers that hang out there and the occasional backpacker. Oh, and the cats that walk around on the bar pissing here and there on occasion.

I have been there a few times now and I don't mind it. Reminds me of a couple pubs in Adelaide that I frequented as a uni student in the 90s.
