Chuwit Gets 5 Years Jail For Bangkok Bar Demolition Raid

I think a lot of farangs like bars and pool tables and massage parlours, of course some like temples to.

Despite Chuwitt wishes and attempts to clean up Thailand it's still very dirty here, a lot of garbage and trash and waste in the streets and everywhere.

I can only repeat what the Newspapers wrote after that raid.

A big group of Army soldiers with heavy equipment, bulldozers came and gave the Bars and whatever businesses only a very short time 10-30 minutes to get out of their premises. by far not enough time to get it all.

The Police was informed and advised not to intervene and they did not intervene!

Than the place was raided and flattened

Sure no time for discussions and to bring all important things out of your shack, who did not move would have been hurt or killed!

That is how the papers told it!wai.gif

There was NO buldozers, a backhoe was all and some big lorrys !

There is splenty of photos of it !

I was there the night before, and i passed it the day after !

There had not been any buldozers around there.

So, your statement misses out on the vital, important part of the incident. wink.png

Anyway, it was a hard action. And all that demolition only made by hand-backhoe, hard work!

wreck4.jpgwreck1.jpg

wreck2.jpgwreck3.jpg

And did not run without conflict.

If you open your eyes !! Would you see that even the plastic charis was not broken ! Do you know what a buldozer is ?? It is a machine 20-40 Ton on trackes, i do not see any track marks, a buldozer can also on push horisontal !!

It was 90% done by hand, look again on your own photos, there is no broken planks etc. if a backhoe had done it, the wood would had splitted in thousand pieces !

They when in with sledge hammers and dismantled the building structures without damaging the inventory !

The only thing i see broke on the photos is a thing rain gutter, i can not see a single wood plank there had been crashed with a big machine !

Sorry !!! it helps to use your eyes !

What is becoming clear on this thread is that a certain TV member has a major hard on for Chuwit! So quick to leap to his defence it's becoming a bit creepy but I guess love is blind...

what is becoming clear is that a certain member is either blind, revisionst, simple or all three.

I don't know what the situation is now but 'squatting' used to be a major problem in the UK. My guess is that the majority would have supported the view that big men should have entered premises and ejected the squatters out onto the street. Making them, under strict supervision, clear up the mess that they made would also have gone down well with the law abiding majority community.

I realise that I have wandered away at a tangent from the main thrust of this thread, so nit pickers, save your efforts.

It was 90% done by hand.

So, -Bulldozer- I not insist on this name, (but, I think to remember, what the papers wrote)

or some other ramming device-army truck, has only to ram into structures, things, must not drive over it.

Your left over 10% see above also enough for me.wink.png

The outcome was devastating and that what is important and the mess was radical!

actually i was unaware that was you, i was actually referring to the poster who insists the damage was done by hand, but a quick review shows that you make that claim as well.

certainly the looting was done by hand, but the full scale destruction was done by a backhoes with a concrete breaker. i had friends on soi 10 at the time, and they spent the night watching.

I know it was mainly done by had and sledge hammers, look at the close up photos, no broken woiod planks, no scattered items !

Just the structure taken apart !

I did know some of the bar owners as well !!

As you can see on your own photo, if a buldozer had been there had all things been moved to one side etc. but it is not moved anywhere, just taken down !!

You can still see the road etc.

Truckloads of men and heavy construction equipment were off-loaded

Those valuables that weren't able to be removed in a timely manner were bulldozed under by yet another team of heavy equipment operators. Shop owners whose personal property was removed report that they do not know where their property was taken.

Yet other trucks brought in the vehicles originally reported to be backhoes, but were in fact concrete breakers which look like a backhoe with a giant metal 'toothpick' at the working end. Witnesses said they used the breakers in a downward smashing movement.

No, I do not make that claims. I only thought and understood, you posted against me, regarding me, sorry. I am on your side!wai.gif

By the way, I just checked what -backhoe- means.wink.png So its heavy equipment already, as not native english speaker I thought that is something different.

So, I am satisfied.thumbsup.gif

Shop owners whose personal property was removed report that they do not know where their property was taken, nor were they certain under whose orders the uniformed raiders were acting.

Are you blind ?????

I was there the day after, and there was NO heavy construction equipment, but a Bangkok based journalist, what does he know about that, he had only seen one from the taxi !

There was Backhoes, and big trucks and hundreds of men, so there had been 5-10 men per bar, so it is no problem to pull it all down by hand, it was all made up of wood !

If you are totally blind, then look at the photos posted, nothing had been driving on top of the wood !! You can also not see any wood planks there had been broken, just taken down !

People was also allowed in to take their belongings, i did not hear about looting, but of course some could had been taken by the wrong people etc.

The backhoe and truck cranes was actually mostly used to install the new fending around the plot, it was concrete blocks they brought along on the trucks !

But i can see there is many smart guys there can write a lot, they never been there, they not even know how a backhoe looks like !!

Many of these barowners moved down to Asoke square/place (or what they called it) and it all happend there again, it was pulled down one night when the land owners had got enough !!

So some of these bar owners know all about the risck they was facing !

What about the big signs there had been there for months ???? Telleing in Thai what was going on, that the lease they paid was to a person who did not have a legal lease on the land etc. as i remember was there even copies of the court papers etc.

But you still write lkik you was there and did know everything !!

No, I not blind, but you -rude-!

And I know what a backhoe looks like. I did not know first, what a backhoe translated into German means.rolleyes.gif

I am satisfied, Bulldozer or Backhoe, who cares, heavy equipment and machinery, that is what I am talking about and not only destruction work by hand alone!

-tinfoilhat-, the Internetreports and my remembered Newspaper reports not confirm your statements, you had not been there during the destruction,

next day, all equipment was gone already, so its not possible you saw something next day.

And even you admit "It was 90% done by hand."

That is enough for me, these 10%.thumbsup.gif

Everything ran smoothly?

Still the question -

Maybe in Wetten Das they can break down wood structures without breaking the wood planks, but nowhere else !

So therefore i told you to look at the photos, there is none broken wood planks, so no machinery had been used !

Why should they ??? There was as i wrote 5-10 men per bar, so how long can it take 20-30 Min. ?

I talked with some of the bar owners, they had all been in picking up their stock and inventory (look at the photos again, there is chairs and tables still standing) so it was not damaged, maybe scratched a little !

Alfredo, i did not "ADMIT" 90 percent was done by hand, Karsten did.

I will no longer engage in a circular argument over events 10 years past, but do not put words in my mouth.

You see, Bagwan, had you been there, or taken the time to read this thread, you would know that this was not a case of 'squatters'. It was a case of sublesees paying rent to the lessor, who was, in turn, in arrears to Chuwit for the land lease. They were not given any notice, and many of them had substantial investments in their businesses, unlike 'squatters'.

But, never one to allow fact to prevent a snide comment, you regale us with your irrelevancies from the UK...thanks!

They got months of warnings !

But they decided not to move !

There was min 2 people between Chuwit and the bar holders, Chuwit was not paid, therefore had he chancelled the lease !

There was big signs out to Sukhumvit about the case going on, so all know that they was on dangerous area !

There was not warning that night they came, but they had known for months, that it would have an end one day !! (why did many move down to another area with same problem ?? Asoke, because it was cheap) !

The bar holders was not crying (only crocodile tears to show !!) they did know it would had an end one day, dratic or not !

They was wrong, and they know it, they had seen the court orders, that the land had to be cleared, but the "lease holder" they paid rent to, convinced them to stay and pay to him, so please blame him for everything !

He needs to go to jail, what he did to the livelyhood of those bar owners was a disgrace, plus, he flattened my local and one of the best pool bars in Bangkok. For anyone who isn't aware he basically hired the army to flatten the block whilst the BIB stood by and let it happen.

He flattened my girlfriend's bar, "Lovely Bar", as well as Jeab's tattoo shop next to it and an Internet shop. Also flatted was one of the few bars in Bangkok with a football table.

I remember this day, was living on soi 11 at the time, came around the corner for a coffee at the French sounding cafe place where sofitel now sits and across the street it was gone. didnt even move out pool tables, tvs, fridges or bar stock, just bull-dozed everything in site.

Chuwit had chancelled the lease and he had waited quite some time on the leaseholder should cleare the land 8here i think we talk about years) but the leaseholder did not pay Chuwit, nor did he clear the land, he continued leasing it out to bar owners !

The bar owners thought they had a valid lease ! But they had NOT ! (i kew a couple of them, and they know it was comming, maybe not so drastic) !

So some here mean it is oK for a leaseholder not to clear the land when his lease is finished ?

Also thinking it is OK for him to lease it out to others and cash in ther money (with him not paying any lease at all, as it had been chancelled) !

The only thing in this case there is wrong, is the way Chuwit cleared the land !

Had he surrounded it with barbwire and put up gaurds, so people could get in and take their things had all been OK !

But these guys who Chuwit had leased out to was not god best boys, so that would properly had enden up in a mini war !!

So now may Chuwit try to get a less punisment he can ! (in real countries, people can only appeal 1-2 times)

Has someone re-mapped the exclamation mark key on your keyboard to the full stop key code? Please get them to map it back, thanks.

A lot of the girls and other employees lost Id cards and othe valuables

Why did their iD cards lay back in closed bars ?? (it was late at night they came) !!

If they had asked for it, they was allowed in to pickup their thingsw, hundred others was allowed that !!

As i wrote before, all know that something was underway, the war had gone on for quite some time before he made the raid (years) so they have no excuse !

Chuwit was not out after all the bar owners, he actually tried to convince them that they had to pay the lease to him, but they did not, even Chuwit could prove the land blonged to him and that the lease on it was chancelled !

So how can bar owners later come and say they was hurt badly ??? (they got back all their inventory, stock, personally belongings etc.)

It was wood sheds, not houses there was on the plot !!

Do you work for Chuwit?
