webfact
DEATH OF PAWANA Foul play not suspected: police The Nation NAKHON PATHOM: -- The evidence strongly suggests that former actress Pawana Chanajit met her death in an accident, rather than by foul play, a senior police officer said yesterday. Assistant Police Commissioner-General Pol Lt Gen Jarumporn Suramanee said the evidence indicated that Pawana, 69, accidentally fell head-first into her fish pond, hitting her head on a concrete pedestal under the water. After being appointed by the national police chief to head the case yesterday, Jarumporn went to Nakhon Pathom's Nakhon Chaisri district to hold a meeting of investigators and inspect the pond. Police drained the pond in their search for evidence. In the middle of the pond, they discovered a concrete pedestal that was used to house a lotus-plant pot. The lid of the pedestal was found to be slightly opened. Police Hospital doctor Lt Col Pakorn Wasinrat told the meeting of investigators that an examination of Pawana's body had revealed a wound on her gums which, he said, had been caused by impact with a hard object. Pakorn surmised that the wound had been caused by impact with the edge of the concrete pedestal, whose lid had shifted as a result. The doctor added that the bruises on her arms and elbows were probably due to impact with the concrete sides of the pedestal. Jarumporn said the evidence fitted a scenario in which Pawana had gone to the pond to feed the fish, knelt down to pay respects to a statute near the pond, then risen and turned towards the pond, losing her balance and falling head-first into the water. Jarumporn said that traces of footsteps found fitted the theory. Jarumporn added that Pawana had, perhaps, lost her bearings as she sank in the dark, believing she was struggling towards the surface when she was actually sinking deeper. Her live-in boyfriend, Natthaphong Luangsirikul, 55, said yesterday he was relieved that the police investigation had cleared suspicions that he was behind the death. Natthapong said he would wait until after the funeral service before instructing his lawyer to seek ownership of his assets. He said he would fight only for what was rightfully his, and would not touch Pawana's assets. -- The Nation 2012-09-

RicFlair
Another mysterious crime quickly solved, I wonder where part of her massive wealth will dissappear to? I am becoming such a pesimist, seems I know what the police statement will be before they even release it!
Rionoir
Wow what a joke... what is it going to take for the citizens of this country to finally say "enough"? Does it have to get as bad as a Libya first?
jerrysteve
RIONOIR: It does make you wonder when there will be a nasty Civil War here. I think the good Thais have just realize it is part of life here, and feel powerless to do anything about. of Many of the Thais I speak to in the U.S.A. whenever I go back all say one thing, They are glad they do not live in Thailand anymore, and have no desire to go back with the exception of seeing their mother and father. Popular Post thequietman
So, she hit the lid ,which is at the very least difficult to move with your bare hands, with her GUMS and caused it to move. In that moment of un-coordination, she swam downwards in her confusion. The fact that the buoyancy of her body would have been pulling her upwards didn't factor. Sad, very sad. The police here are a laughing stock. It may have been an accident, yes, but at least come up with a believable answer. Once again, I suspect tea money was exchanged here for a quick conclusion.
Popular Post cup-O-coffee
September 2012 Movie Releases "The Check's in the Mail" (DRAMA / MYSTERY) Plot: An aging actress dies under mysterious circumstances. When a police man and police doctor allegedly show up and discuss the matter with the live-in boyfriend, allegedly for the first meeting between the three, the live-in boyfriend hurriedly explains to the two nice and understanding police officers that he did not do it. Furthermore, quickly adds that he expects large sums of money once he gets her money from her coffers; but logically, only if he is free from the suspicion of these two nice officers to engage in this noble endeavor. Immediately after that, the cause of death is then $wiftly explained away by these two nice and understanding police officers who, without performing any forensic tests, $wiftly dismiss the entire affair as being nothing more than a simple accident - brought on by an aging actress who mysteriously developed a bad case of imbalance, followed my a lost sense of direction and all at a most unfortunate time. The Policeman (Played by Jarumporn) A nice and understanding man, who gets to privately "discuss" the crime scene with the live-in boyfriend (played by Natthaphong) before $wiftly releasing his findings. Casting Role: To show sheer awesomeness by strongly suggesting although it appears otherwise To explain in a fatherly-like manner how something can be clearly indicated without any fact To engage his amazing, god-like abilities to surmise when no answers are apparent To utter earth-shattering thoughts like, "had, perhaps, lost her bearings" The Police Doctor (Played by Pakorn) A nice and understanding man of the medical field who $wiftly performs his work outside the lab when circumstances dictate, and is gifted with the remarkable ability to deliver swift results after having his thoughts cogitated by an expectant, live-in boyfriend (soon to come in to large sums of money). Casting Role To utter mind-bending, never before heard of things phrases such as, "were probably due to" The live-in boyfriend (Played by Natthaphong) A likeable fellow who simply wants his money! He is emphatic in his clear and obvious explanation to the very very nice and understanding police that he is not involved in this most unfortunate incident, and is $wift to make it clear to all that he expects to come in to large sums of money in the very near future, but only if he is free to do so. Casting Role Immediately following the unfortunate demise of the aging actress, to $wiftly make it apparent to the nice and understanding Jarumporn and Pakorn, that he is relieved that have cleared him of any suspicions that he was behind the death; hence enabling him to pursue vast sums of wealth. To mutter things like: "would wait until after the funeral service before instructing his lawyer to (get as much money from the dead person as he could)", and... "He said he would fight only for what was rightfully his, and would not touch Pawana's assets." The Deceased (Played by Pawana) No Role in this film Described as an aging actress of fame who, heretofore, had never been known or been described to have suffered from spells of imbalance or delirium. The movie picks up after the point in which she loses her balance, falls down into a pond and sustains mysterious neck head and mouth wounds, and loses her sense of direction whilst submerged. No other wounds are apparent on her body that might suggest she tried to claw her way back to the surface from the concrete bed of the pond. These pestering clues are easily explained away by the boyfriend and the nice, understanding police men who all get to discuss this affair in private. The Lawyer (played by anonymous person) Casting Role Upon hearing about the most unfortunate incident, reaches out in brotherly love and understandingly and confidently croons through the phone receiver, "The check's in the mail". cup-O-coffe Movie Rating: A 5-Faced Puker "This film is sure to keep you glued to the edge of your seat. The domino-like thread of events fall, one after another, almost as if it were planned, but the amazing acting performances keep it believable throughout the entire movie. It's a show stopper if I've ever seen one!" Edited September 13, 2012 by cup-O-coffee
sniffdog
Nice movie script. Perhaps you should add involvement of a Ferrari with failing brakes.

rbrooks
Amazing Thailand and such great Forensic authorities. I do believe they should contact the T.V. director of the American series, Bones and ask for an Asian segment in their show as a comedy or as a shining example of what not to do in the field of Forensic science. I laughing so hard looking at the picture of the pool drained, two bozos with tape measure and the big buwana police chief kneeling down to oversee the great work he has accomplished. My guess is that the Thai people either are not very bright or they are treated as morons when they have to actually show a crime scene reenactment or an investigation in action to convince them they know who is guilty and how a crime has been committed before it goes to court. God forbid the poor Farlangs who are caught committing a crime or framed while in the LOS with no great assets.

Not only did she hit the concrete lid with her gums, she did so falling in backwards! And of course, cuts and bruises on her face and bruises on her neck are familiar wounds you get if you fall into water. The Thai police are really much more than the Keystone Cops ever were. vijer
Note to self : When you are no longer interested in your older rich live in mate ask them to go for a walk by the pond, perhaps they will slip and fall. What?? It could happen!

chessplayer
Judging from the pic it is possible, to a very wide imagination, for a tall person to fall and hit the structure from the edge if he were to fall as if a pencil topples over. However, if the person falls into the pond it is much more likely to have slipped or crumbled into it. Physics just does not dictate a person will fall pencil like unless he is pushed over.
