NAKHON PATHOM: -- The evidence strongly suggests that former actress Pawana Chanajit met her death in an accident, rather than by foul play, a senior police officer said yesterday.

Assistant Police Commissioner-General Pol Lt Gen Jarumporn Suramanee said the evidence indicated that Pawana, 69, accidentally fell head-first into her fish pond, hitting her head on a concrete pedestal under the water.

After being appointed by the national police chief to head the case yesterday, Jarumporn went to Nakhon Pathom's Nakhon Chaisri district to hold a meeting of investigators and inspect the pond.

Police drained the pond in their search for evidence. In the middle of the pond, they discovered a concrete pedestal that was used to house a lotus-plant pot. The lid of the pedestal was found to be slightly opened.

Police Hospital doctor Lt Col Pakorn Wasinrat told the meeting of investigators that an examination of Pawana's body had revealed a wound on her gums which, he said, had been caused by impact with a hard object.

Pakorn surmised that the wound had been caused by impact with the edge of the concrete pedestal, whose lid had shifted as a result.

The doctor added that the bruises on her arms and elbows were probably due to impact with the concrete sides of the pedestal.

Jarumporn said the evidence fitted a scenario in which Pawana had gone to the pond to feed the fish, knelt down to pay respects to a statute near the pond, then risen and turned towards the pond, losing her balance and falling head-first into the water. Jarumporn said that traces of footsteps found fitted the theory.

Jarumporn added that Pawana had, perhaps, lost her bearings as she sank in the dark, believing she was struggling towards the surface when she was actually sinking deeper.

Her live-in boyfriend, Natthaphong Luangsirikul, 55, said yesterday he was relieved that the police investigation had cleared suspicions that he was behind the death.

Natthapong said he would wait until after the funeral service before instructing his lawyer to seek ownership of his assets. He said he would fight only for what was rightfully his, and would not touch Pawana's assets.

Another mysterious crime quickly solved, I wonder where part of her massive wealth will dissappear to?

I am becoming such a pesimist, seems I know what the police statement will be before they even release it!

Wow what a joke... what is it going to take for the citizens of this country to finally say "enough"? Does it have to get as bad as a Libya first?

RIONOIR: It does make you wonder when there will be a nasty Civil War here.

I think the good Thais have just realize it is part of life here, and feel powerless to do anything about.coffee1.gifsad.png of

Many of the Thais I speak to in the U.S.A. whenever I go back all say one thing, They are glad they do not live in Thailand anymore, and have

no desire to go back with the exception of seeing their mother and father.coffee1.gif

Amazing Thailand and such great Forensic authorities. I do believe they should contact the T.V. director of the American series, Bones and ask for an Asian segment in their show as a comedy or as a shining example of what not to do in the field of Forensic science. I laughing so hard looking at the picture of the pool drained, two bozos with tape measure and the big buwana police chief kneeling down to oversee the great work he has accomplished. My guess is that the Thai people either are not very bright or they are treated as morons when they have to actually show a crime scene reenactment or an investigation in action to convince them they know who is guilty and how a crime has been committed before it goes to court. God forbid the poor Farlangs who are caught committing a crime or framed while in the LOS with no great assets.

So, she hit the lid ,which is at the very least difficult to move with your bare hands, with her GUMS and caused it to move.

In that moment of un-coordination, she swam downwards in her confusion. The fact that the buoyancy of her body would have been pulling her upwards didn't factor.

Sad, very sad. The police here are a laughing stock.

It may have been an accident, yes, but at least come up with a believable answer.

Once again, I suspect tea money was exchanged here for a quick conclusion. sad.png

Not only did she hit the concrete lid with her gums, she did so falling in backwards! And of course, cuts and bruises on her face and bruises on her neck are familiar wounds you get if you fall into water. The Thai police are really much more than the Keystone Cops ever were.

Note to self : When you are no longer interested in your older rich live in mate ask them to go for a walk by the pond, perhaps they will slip and fall. What?? It could happen!

Judging from the pic it is possible, to a very wide imagination, for a tall person to fall and hit the structure from the edge if he were to fall as if a pencil topples over. However, if the person falls into the pond it is much more likely to have slipped or crumbled into it. Physics just does not dictate a person will fall pencil like unless he is pushed over.
