SONGKHLA, Sept 13 - Two luxury vehicles were seized at the Sadao border checkpoint in the southern province of Songkhla bordering Malaysia, according to a senior official.

Prayuth Maneechote, director of Customs Office Region 4, said on Thursday that a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550 and a Nissan GT-R CBA-R35 are valued together at Bt30 million.

The two vehicles were found to have falsely registered documents for smuggling into Thailand for sale.

Legal action has been taken against Pern Kok Heng and Chew Eng Tian, both Malaysian nationals. They however rejected the charges, saying they were travelling to Phuket.

Mr Prayuth said that smugglers were attempting to deliver the cars to customers in Bangkok by road after the authority’s stringent checks on smuggling goods by ship. (MCOT online news)

Obviously someone doesn't want to pay that ridiculous luxury car import duty. A Gallado & GTR. Nice cars indeed.

Bet it´s not a "Rice farmer" that bought the cars.whistling.gif

Please don't quote me with your prejudices. Obviously the cars are high end and the well healed will have to pay for them.

Malaysia is not cheap for cars, so why send them from Malaysia to Thailand for resale - if in fact they can prove that case. This story is certainly not complete. Similarly the cost of the cars are also expensive down there - so unless they are stolen, and being fenced here - which they would still have to prove - all they have are two cars with wrongful papers.

For those interested...

There is a huge car theft ring in Malaysia that operates kinda like this;

Go to dealer, pay downpayment, get insurance & drive car away.

Get car into Thailand or into Singapore (FFT to Indonesia) say on

a weekend holiday and deliver it to "contacts" in either country

then scream that the car was stolen and collect insurance money.

Secondly...outrightly steal luxury vehicle then forge papers/ plates

and pay bribe money to cops & border officials and sell vehicle to

"contacts" in either country. In a nutshell that's all there is to it.

The money earned is huge in either case if one doesn't get caught.
