Where Can I Get Kua Kling Beef Dry Red Curry, Southern Style, In Pattaya?

This dish was mentioned on another thread as a great dish from South Thailand.

While I've been to South Thailand, I think I may have never tried this dish, and I think I would love it.

Does anyone know where this Southern Thai dish may be had in Pattaya? Thanks.

Not sure where my wife means, but she says, 'there is a shop that it behind 'Differ' and big 'C' North', southern dish but she says its more yellow but very spicy. Sorry cant do better than that.

Soi Nern Plub Wan, my missus gets it, and the pork version, from the stalls there. Can't be more specific I'm afraid.

From the picture it looks like larb but perhaps with curry paste mixed in. It does sound appetizing. I will keep a look out for this dish.

It's got to be very different than larb as larb is an Isaan dish.

agreed.. but when I showed my Issarn born wife the link you posted that was the first thing out of her mouth. "It looks like larb", she said. I explained that this dish has curry paste fried in. The name is not one my wife is familiar with. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for it as it sounds like a good dish.

I have found the scarcity of REGIONAL Thai places (except for Isaan which is everywhere here) in town rather a letdown. There used to be that Northern Thai/Lanna place on 3rd road which to my taste compared well to good places in Chiang Mai, but alas, long closed.

Kua Kling Moo (คั่วกลิ้งหมู) - Dry Pork Curry

I actually used to make this using green curry and chicken.

There's a good Southern Thai place (actually a few of them) in the big fresh food market in Rayong, not the one next to the river, the market nearer the old com center. Sorry I can't be more specific--I know how to get there only.

If I go to Tukcom and go to the road south of Tukcom that goes to 3rd road, if I turn left on that road, going towards 3rd road, the place will be on that road? If so, very close to 3rd road, very close to Tukcom, or about in the middle, etc.?

You can try Kua Kling, the web page said they have both pork and beef at Pi Lek's Southern Style Rice and Curry at Pattaya 3Rd. open 10am-4pm. Closed Sat and Sun on 3rd and 4th week of every month

If you wanna try Thai local food which different from normal isaan. This one known for thai tourist for his delicious extremely hot jungle foods.

Thanks for the tips, paggamb. I'll try Lek's southern curry place and report back--I think I may have seen it before but I'm not sure. I'm sick of having to go to Rayong for a good southern curry.

It's very close to 3rd Road. It's on the short angled road, joining the road (which contains the Sikh temple) to the South and 3rd road.

coming from Sukhumvit it is on the left hand side about 300 meters past Lotus and right next-door to a coffee shop in a small accommodation unit. Good food at that Ahaan Tai place and super espresso in the coffee shop...

I should add they don't always have the beef version. Chicken is always there...

I can also recommend the place "Khaokengpaktai Pattalung". They do serve Kua Kling although I belive it's mostly made with pork or chicken.
It's on the left side on 3rd rd when going north, just a couple of hundred meters south of Klang, between Soi Chaloerm Prakiat (SP?) 13 and 15, right next
to a pharmacy called First Drug Pharmacy

Yup.. it's great stuff.

We often buy Khua Kling but then add some more pork & veggies (Zucchini or green beans for example), then add some unsweetened yogurt. Turns it into a really nice curry. (And still spicy, though not quite as firy as the source dish.)
