Education Visa Dependant

Featured Replies

A friend asked me this recently and I haven't been able to find the answer. Husband is on an ED visa (genuine, big money for the course) and she is also on an ED visa (not genuine but cheap). Is it possible for her to 'piggy-back' on hubby's visa with a Non immigration O? I know in Australia overseas students are allowed to bring dependants with them.

Thanks in advance

Not sure what Consulate would say but as dependent of a student is not a valid extension of stay dependent status per police order 777/2551 suspect it would not be issued.

One of my friends did "piggy-back" on the ED-visa of her kids, who where attending a Thai (primary) school at that time.

Things were arranged at Rayong Immigration.

Of course, those kind of ED-visa's do differ from the "ED"-visa's.

Indeed that would be under section 2.11 so will change my previous to non immigrant O visa should be issued and she could then obtain extension under below. Thanks for posting. Time for second cup as first seems to have been only enough to open half eye.

This will be dependent on OP husband having an extension of stay for study under section 2.8 or 2.9

2.11 In the case of a family

member of an alien who has

been permitted to stay

temporarily in Thailand for

study in an educational

institution as set out in clauses

2.8 or 2.9.....
