Where To Buy Nature/educational Vcds In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

I'm posting this question in General since there may be people who live outside of BKK who know the answer!

I'm flying over from Yangon to do a quick 'visa-run' in BKK. I want to buy some educational VCDs (in English) to use during the science lessons for my school students, aged about 8 years old.

The choice of VCD in Yangon is very limited.

The type of video I'm after would be typically BBC or David Attenborough nature documentaries.

I know Pantip Plaza is THE place for music, film and porn videos, but I do not recall seeing any educational VCDs at Pantip.

Does anyone know of a shop in BKK where I can buy these types of VCD?

Thanks

Simon

Pantip may be worth a try actually, if you nose around they have quite a selection which may include educational videos.

Alternatively, you could try Mangpong (look for the scorpion logo) there is one on the 3rd floor of MBK. Original copies, hence usually more expensive than Pantip, with prices ranging from THB 80 upto THB 1000+ for blu-ray. They definitely have a reasonable selection of educational/nature videos, including BBC/Attenborough.

Edit : Did a quick search on their website and some BBC examples below- generally quite cheap for originals.

If you go inside a Big C there is usually a stall or two around the perimeter selling VCDs etc and they have those type for students from about 40 baht up.

Just a suggestion.

I don't know what your moral stance is on downloading, but I know where you can download just about every BBC, National Geographic and Discovery documentary that's ever been made. PM me if you want to know more.
