Tourist Visa Confusion?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I am 24 from the UK, I am quite confused by all the information with Thai Visas. Basically I am staying in Thailand at the end of the year for exactually 59 days for just tourism/leisure. Do I need a tourist visa with 1 entry, will that visa provide me with 59 days entry and do I need to do a visa run at all during my stay? Thanks :)

Go to an embassy and apply for a tourist visa, you'll get a multiple entry tourist visa which will give you 60 days in Thailand.

MaiDoang, there is no "multiple entry tourist visa". Anyway, for a stay of 59 days, Starfish88 needs only a single-entry tourist visa. With this, he will receive permission to stay for 60 days when he arrives in Thailand and he will not have to do any "visa run"

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

That's what I meant maestro :)

Thanks guys, you all have been really helpful. :)

May I just broaden this thread a bit?

I plan to get a Tourist Visa from the Hull Consulate, UK. For 60 days which I understand I can extend for 30 more days by applying in Thailand for 1900 baht.

If I want to spend a few days in Laos -within the time limits of the visa plus extension, do I need to apply for a re-entry stamp in Thailand before I go to Laos or apply when getting back into Thailand?

Or can I just go no problem.

Tanks for any help.

You would have to apply for re-entry permit prior to leaving Thailand.

It would likely be better to obtain a two entry tourist visa from Hull and then you should not have to extend for 1,900 baht and obtain a re-entry permit for 1,000 baht if you do travel near the middle of your visit. Or if your return time will be 15 days or less just use visa exempt entry at land border or 30 days by air return at no extra cost but using single entry and extension (if extension required).

Thanks Lopburismile.png

It looks as if I just have to make up my mind!
