Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will visit India in November to deliver the next Nehru memorial lecture, according to The Times of India. It will be her first trip to the country she once lived in since her release from house arrest in November 2010. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally invited her to give the lecture when he met her in Rangoon earlier this year. She was given the Jawaharlal Nehru award for international understanding in 1992, when India was still a strong supporter of Burma’s pro-democracy movement, before switching to a pro-junta stance.
