An Australian man, Tran Huybao Khang, 28, was dramatically arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport just as he prepared to board a Melbourne-bound Thai Airways flight.

His arrest came after Bangkok airport security detected 22 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in his luggage, often referred to as "ice." The incident unfolded on Sunday morning beside flight TG461, where authorities brought him to verify suspicions of narcotics in his bags.

The airport's state-of-the-art X-ray system had automatically flagged two of his bags for further inspection after spotting odd shapes within, alerting officials to potential illegal contents. Upon investigation, the suspicions were confirmed as crystal meth was discovered, leading to Khang's swift detainment.

The intercepted contraband is believed to have been smuggled on behalf of an international narcotics syndicate expecting delivery in Melbourne.

Experts from the Customs Department estimate the seized drugs would fetch approximately 6.6 million Thai Baht on the local market.

However, had the meth reached its intended destination in Australia, its value could have skyrocketed to an eye-watering 23 million baht. Authorities are now focused on tracking the drug's origin and dismantling the smuggling network.

This arrest highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking at international airports, showcasing the effectiveness of modern security measures.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work diligently to prevent similar offenses and safeguard the community. The incident underscores the significant risk and heightened vigilance required to combat the global drug trade.

Being busted in Melbourne would have been better for him

A much more civilized prison system

Hope he likes rice soup

What a Muppet, not sure what the check-in luggage limits are these days but where did he put his clothes and toothbrush?

Reckon rice soup would be a delicacy where he's going, fish head soup on the menu for the foreseeable future!

I hope he gets a very long sentence. It could well be thirty-plus years.

Odd they found his drugs but not that 18 year old girls with all the weed 🤔

Definitely a good solid Kiwi name 👌

Now that the easy bust weed is off the table it's good to see them getting real drugs.

Buddha works in mysterious ways.

So next holiday in prison?😂

22kg or 50 pounds of meth.

Its even more stupid when you consider that the baggage allowance for most airlines averages out at 30kg.

Seriously, what the <deleted> was buddy thinking?

Do you realize that rice is a supplement like potatoes or pasta, or were you just making a bigoted remark?

Think he will supplement his rice with Roach Soup.

Pillow? In the Bangkok Hilton? 🤣🤣🤣

You'd think it would have melted in this heat.

The man is stupid for another reason: Border Control in Australia inspects luggage with drug-sniffing dogs. He would have been caught at the airport in Melbourne anyway. I hope he doesn't mind staying in a sweaty and overcrowded room for the rest of his life with society's worst and eating watery rice with bits of whatever.
