I have been meaning to post this for ages. I saw this only one time. The photo is completely untouched.

Thanks F1! yes I have never seen it ever again..and dispaointed no one can tell me what it is. A google search did not help either.

I think it belongs to the day flying moths, family Zygaenidae. If you allow me to post your photo in a Thai forum specializing in insects of Thailand its name could be possibly found. - But to do this I need to know in which province you found it.

Thank you, Erwin

Chinnotes! Great Please post it! I found it at an ocean front hotel in Kata Beach Phuket. It was taken July 25, 2009 Taken at 4.30pm

(wow I did not realise I took this 3 years ago.. have been meaning to post it here for a while..whistling.gif ..)

THank you!

Well, it is now sure, that this is a member of the Zygaenidae family (day flying moths) as I had suggested in my previous post. But Pisuth Ek-Amnuei, who has just written a thick book on butterflies of Thailand says that he has never seen this one. He thinks it's new for Thailand!

When next time I will go to the British Museum in London, I try to check their collecion of Zygaenidae. But this will not happen very soon, as next week I will go for Indonesia for some time..

As soon as I know more I will post here again.

Erwin

Sorry, double post
