Not looking for any other comments apart from is he breaking the rules and terms of his retirement visa? Please kindly let me know if u can? Thanks

it all depends how old he is ,

Immigration has an investigative department who you can inform.

I don't think there is anything you can do except go to the police and make a report. If there are enough reports you can go to court. It's up to the judge to decide if the offence is serious enough to send him out of the country.

An even easier option is changing your telephone number.

No he is not breaking any laws. Emails and text messages are not illegal here in Thailand as they are not considered to involve a 3rd party. You can make a complaint at the police station but it won't help. If he doe this in public then it becomes an offence (3rd party involved = section 320/321 of the Thai Criminal Code)

How did he get your phone number?

Change your phone number. Simple.

If the OP needs to keep the phone number for other reasons, can't he just ignore the calls/SMS msgs? Just don't answer calls/don't open SMS from his number.

Otherwise, Immigration isn't going to care unless the guy develops a police record due to these actions. And even then, they probably won't take action.

Trying to get him in trouble with Immigration isn't the best way to stop this harassment.

AIS (12Call) has a call screening service for 30 baht a month where you can block calls from annoying people.

Not sure if it works with SMS's too

Dial *189ico_tel.gif

Keep full records of EVERYTHING. Calls... date and time. SMS... date, time and content of the SMS.

Might be very useful at a later date should this require police or any form of legal action. Also, might be worth consulting a lawyer.

Alternatively, there is also probably some unemployed red guard available for freelance work. laugh.png

Had ex-wife in Korat do the same, 100's of threatening messages on phone. I was afraid her and her ex may try to kill me. Went to tourist police, they downloaded all the messages on to a police phone for evidence. So in Thailand first you make the complaint, then 2nd the charges if any.

The police called her to the station, showed her all the messages she had sent me, they wanted me to wait upstairs while they interviewed her. I told them I could not, I used some excuse I had to go to Bangkok that day etc... They had her come to the station and told her to stop the harassment or she would be charged. End of messages. She was threatening me with death, unless I paid money, extortion. She wanted 100,000 Bhat to sign divorce papers, my lawyer called her to see how to rectify this situation, he suggested I offer her 20,000 Bhat. I told him she gets nothing.

She caved after 6 months. She and 2 cops came to my apartment, the cops said do you want a divorce today, no money, I said sure, they said get your passport, they drove her and I to the Amphur, we signed the divorce papers, she had a friend pick her up, the cops drove me home, they missed lunch. I left a 100 Baht note in the front seat of their car and told them to get lunch and thanked them. Maybe slightly off topic not a foreigner involved, but hopefully of some help.

Great post based upon experience; not assumptions

I would think if you file a Police report with evidence of death threats from said party, and told them that you are truely scared for you life.

That is a crime in Thailad, crime of harrasment as least.

good luck

Perhaps the OP to change the title of this thread to reflect the fact that his problem is a little more serious than simply 'wanting to report someone to the headmaster'.

The police asked me if I wanted to press charges. I said no, just stop the harassment.

+1....Ignore the calls, don't look for trouble. It's (she) is not worth it.

It seems that "Newbie" has not been back since his post to look for help.

-Gone-

Give the OP time, only half day since the opening of that Thread and his last posting.

For 3 Postings he needed 6 month, so relax and wait a bit?.whistling.gifcoffee1.gif

Your phone can block numbers but he can of course buy different sims to carry on.

As posted, the Tourist Police is your first friend. They are not here just for visitors, l know cos l am a volunteer in the boonies. thumbsup.gif

They have their own office not together with the regular BiB. smile.png

One post making threats of violence removed.

I have removed a post with an unhelpful speculation.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

  • 2 weeks later...

But threatening ones life using sms messages I think is illegal because in my situation the Thai Police asked me If I wanted to charge her....

SMS messages etc can all be used by the Police and shown in Court if it comes to that.
