Construction worker found dead in storm drain next to village in East Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A 45 year old construction worker was found floating face-down in a storm drain outside a gated housing estate in East Pattaya on Wednesday Night.

Police were called to the front of SP Village 2 in Soi Siam Country Club just after 8pm following the discovery of the decomposing corpse floating in the drainage channel. The body was discovered by a fisherman who was returning home following a trip to the nearby Maprachan Reservoir. He then contacted Security Guards at the village who then called the Police.

It was thought he may be a construction worker currently employed within the village so the foreman of the site was called in and identified the man as Khun Sanit aged 45 from Buri Rum Province. He had worked on the site for just a short time but was known to colleagues as a heavy drinker and would often not return to their constructors campsite in Soi Nong Get Yai at the end of the day but would stay close to the site and drink Whisky with friends. He had failed to arrive for work for the last 2 days which fits with current estimates the man had been dead for between 1 and 2 days.
