PATTAYA:--Just after 4.30am on Friday, Pattaya Police assisted by Police Volunteers, conducted a sweep of Walking Street, in search of street vendors selling counterfeit branded items, who were accused of annoying tourists.

Complaints had been received earlier in the night relating to a small group of vendors who were not taking “No” for an answer and were getting aggressive if they were not able to make a sale. Police found the group of 4 women and subsequently arrested them and seized items they were attempting to sell.

At Pattaya Police Station officers examined 300 wrist watches featuring brand names such as Rolex, Casio and Breitling. The vendors claimed they had purchased the items from the Rongklua Market located on the Cambodian Border for between 200 and 500 Baht per watch and would sell them on to tourists in Pattaya for as much as 2,500 Baht each.
