rubl
Natthawut said he just happened to have some errands in Hong Kong while Jatuporn wanted to take a vacation. So they took the opportunity to meet Thaksin, which was a common thing to do because they had not seen one another for a long time. Maybe Dept. minister of Agriculture Pheu Thai party list MP and UDD leader Nattawut discussed the usefulness of rubber trees, dairy culture, rice planting. Maybe he just wanted some pointers on his part of the 'first year accomplishments report'. All non-political subjects :-) BTW errands suggests to me he was sent. Maybe my limited understanding of the English language, or just one of those Thai 'lost in translation' bits.
Popular Post GentlemanJim
This part of the OP seems to have been passed over for comment by the "Disgusted of Chelmsford" brigade Court Chief Justice Thawee Prachuaplap said that Jatuporn and Natthawut - like other defendants granted bail - had the right to travel or meet anyone, even if that person might be fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He added that the court might not allow such an overseas trip if the defendants were suspected of going to plot a severe incident or to meet with someone considered dangerous or wanted for serious crimes. When reminded by a reporter that Thaksin was a fugitive, Thawee said Jatuporn and Natthawut did not specify in their requests that they would meet Thaksin. "As far as I know, Thaksin was sentenced to two years in jail - and that was not a severe punishment," he said. There's the Court Chief Justice suggesting that Thaksin is not Thailands most wanted man, or the Worlds only escaped fugitive Prime Minister as he was also known by the local rags (except he's not if you take into account Syrias' escaped fugitive Prime Minister, Riyad Hijab) but actually a PM who was deposed by a military Junta as the rest of the intelligent World regards him. See also the thread entitled Impeach me over Thaksin passport: Surapong http://www.thaivisa....g/#entry5675412 You know, you just seem soooo familiar. I feel like I have known you for so much more than 170 posts.
khaowong1
Can you imagine the US courts letting say, Bernie Maddoff, take a vacation to anywhere overseas, before they pronounced sentence on him? Yes, I know it's not quite the same situation, but just the same, it's ridiculous. It didn't work with Thaksin, don't you think their supreme leader might not give them some hands on lessons on how to evade the authorities? You forgot to add, let Bernie Madhoff go abroad but instill a strict financial deposit of USD 1800 to make sure he comes back.

Popular Post GentlemanJim
I like these bits He added that the court might not allow such an overseas trip if the defendants were suspected of going to plot a severe incident or to meet with someone considered dangerous or wanted for serious crimes. When reminded by a reporter that Thaksin was a fugitive, Thawee said Jatuporn and Natthawut did not specify in their requests that they would meet Thaksin. "As far as I know, Thaksin was sentenced to two years in jail - and that was not a severe punishment," he said. So the Chief Justice says 'as far as I know Thaksin was sentenced to 2 years in Jail" !! The Chief Justice - "as far as I know". The most publicised issue concerning any Thai in the last 10 years and the Chief Justice says "as far as I know" The Chief Justice also says above that he wouldn't let them go abroad if he thought they were meeting anyone dangerous, but then says that they didn't say they were meeting Thaksin. So how exactly does he conclude it's safe to let these bail jumpers travel abroad? Does he expect them to say, "we are off to meet Carlos the Jackal my lord". Had they absconded their bail, and fled to the sanctity of a villa in Dubai they would both of course have lost the massive sum of 1800-2000 USD each that was imposed on them by the Chief Justice as a deterrent to skipping bail.
annabel
Thaksin in Hong Kong (by local Hong Kong media) joking about "no more money" funny scene at the Hermes store is that Chalerm staggering from too much ear medicine at the end of the video? , The red shirt leaders always claim that AV is out of touch with the poor. I always have difficulties digesting the fact that a billionaire, playing around in 6 star hotels, claims that his only goal in life is to help the poor Just doesn't sell. Some famous Thaksin words: If the army wants to clean up the protest side, resist. If they use force I will come to Thailand to fight with you. I am very close to you now. Can be there any moment. A few days later.....my people told me it is not safe for me to go back to Thailand now. Sorry you have to continue with your struggle without me. Remember, I am thinking of you (and my money). Yellow or has my vision deceived me....?? Nope their skin is obviously yellow in these pics ,Wonder why ???
BigBanana
Well maybe AV & Suthep should run off & have a 'secret' meeting at Anupong's pad to discuss how to deal with the situation. Oh & don't forget to pick up Prem on the way over.

Oh & don't forget to pick up Prem on the way over. And do it in Hong Kong, while claiming not to be discussing politics, at all ? Meanwhile the leaders of the Dems must be quite pleased, with the hash the PTP & PM-Yingluck are making, of running the country. It must surely come home to register on the electorate, sooner or later ! Edited October 11, 2012 by Ricardo

RJJ
place a surety of Bt60,000 each. Well that's certainly going to ensure they don't skip bail... I remember they set a trivial amount for Thaksin and they were SHOCKED when he decided not to return.
drdoom6996
Why should they jump bail by going to see the expert on the subject. Give 'em all bail and let them keep their passports.
hyperdimension
Are they back yet? Were they at least required to show a return ticket?
yoshiwara
The weakness of the red position is in their split behaviour. On the one hand as a mark of their loyalty they must openly be seen to visit him. On the other they have to lie as to why they are there. It is this weakness of feeling the need to lie, to openly dissemble which makes them look like buffoons, the more important their position the worse it appears. The loss of face in their position is palpable. Support Thaksin? Eat dirt!
