Ladies, I realise this is a male dominated forum, but still, ive read other largely male dominated forums and the discussions have been a little more ..for want of a better word.. high-brow in general.

My mind sometimes boggles at the endless threads about women (girlfriends/wives/prostitutes..etc etc) and bars (beer bars and go go bars).

I understand men like women, but in this forum seems to almost consume them. Surely there is more to life for men than bargirl talk and beer?

As part of the minority, what do you feel about it?

Do you think this a reflection of the average male in THailand, or just a reflection of the average male in Thaivisa forum?

After a while i usually end up taking a break from the forum, because its just the same stuff regurgitated and makes me feel like everyone is on a hamster wheel! But, i do come back, because at the same time, it can be quite entertaining to read. :D

Even hamsters have their moments...

Yep, it's about the average male in Thailand, and his average male interests.

Seriously Eek, what do you expect most men to be thinking about and talking about?

..but Tommo, a thread could be about mobile sim cards, and some-bloody-how it turns into whos wife is hi-so chinese, or what to pay for your gf or bar fine...my girls better than your girl..im richer, younger, handsomer, alkj;agj;aglji mean..wth.....! lol!

it is certainly NOT indicative of all men in Thailand. The men i know in Bangkok are too caught up in career, family and enjoying life in general to get into this nonsense.

The vocal majority on this forum have either made their bed in deepest darkest nowhere and are desperate for any interaction that takes place in a language they can understand, or they are in lands far off either waiting on their next trip or badmouthing the place from afar after they failed to grab the brass ring and make a go of it in their time here.

i fear there is little on the cards but disappointment for many who choose their partner using an ill-conceived set of criteria and that disillusionment finds a place to vent anonymously on Thai Visa.

Lets not exaggerate!

I have participated in many threads in the Internet and communications forums, none have mentioned women, sex or hookers. Same with the farming forum, not a word.

You wrote a whole page complaining about men who write to ThaiVisa about

girls, hookers and bar life. You stated there has to be more to life than these subjects.

Then you end your rant with the following quote:

" But, i do come back, because at the same time, it can be quite entertaining to read."

I think most guys do write about it because it entertaining to read.

Maybe Thaivisa needs a forum where they can write about Thai girls and their adventures.

You know eek, I was thinking the same thing as you before I saw your post just now. It's kind of creepy how sometimes an absolutely innocuous thread topic, like "what new car should I buy" can degenerate into Bargirl/prostitute discussions like "but I can fit 8 hookers in the Honda Brios vs. the Nissan March".

I was talking to another member of this forum who informed me he was sick of the forum right now, and was taking a break. I was telling him I was getting sick of it too. I was on a 'break' for the past few days. I'm probably going to go on another 'break' as I have too much stuff to do this week. I try to have a life outside of this place. What drags me back in is usually look at the news forum to see what's going on in Thailand, and that takes me to general...and well I get sucked back in.

Honestly, if I were a woman, I would get so irritated. I have to compliment you, SBK, boo, bina, and Mig16 for not exploding more often! That probably explains why there are relatively few women on this forum lately. Like remember the old days? Like when folks like GirlX, Kat, and Damian Mavis were on this forum? Remember when the ladies forum used to be a real hotbed of interesting discussion? Nowadays, not too many women, and this particular forum is kind of slow. I miss some of the discussions we used to have here.

Is it a reflection of the average male in Thailand or the average male on Thaivisa? I don't necessarily think it is a "majority".

I think it is in part men who were not too "successful" with women before coming to Thailand. They then come to Thailand, receive alot of attention they don't receive in the West and now they think it is an anything goes sexual Disneyland. The basic rules of having respect for a woman that apply in the West don't apply in Thailand so they can say any misogynistic thing they want.

I think it is alot of men who don't really have anything else to do with their time other than go to bars, hook up with go-go girls, and post on the internet. Like the "career" expats, or other "normals" we do not often hear from because they are too busy doing other things than posting. Like tinfoilhat said, they are too busy with jobs and taking care of their families to post about bargirls. When I am actually "in country" in Thailand, I'm usually running about doing things such that I don't really have time to post. Then there are those who are isolated and lonely with nothing else to do....

Frankly, some of these people I also think are legitimately mentally unstable. I don't mean "I disagree with you so I will accuse you of being insane." I mean like I legitimately think some of these people are mentally unhinged like I think they should be medicated and be forced to stay at least 100 yards away from children. Like I picture them living in an isolated shack in the woods working on their manifesto when not posting on Thaivisa.

Keep in mind that what I am saying IS NOT the majority of men/posters. The ones in particular I am thinking of, get banned and then get "resurrected". I think it is the same usual suspects that make the annoying newbie posts over and over again. I think it is a minority, but the minority really has ALOT of time on their hands and are creepy. And this is the stuff that manages to get through the moderators without deletion. Some of the posts I manage to see before the moderators spot them and delete them...

I want to hear the news about what's going on in Thailand, I turn on the television ..... and I'm not even Thai.

In the US, use this link

Thank you for the link, Tommo. I have a few websites I go to as well for Thai television and whatnot. It's just with the time difference, the news isn't on, and I don't have time just sit and watch. I like just reading the stories that I find interesting.

Oh I completely understand what you're saying...

Sometimes it becomes tedious reading the same thing over and over again. Obviously as a minority in this forum (and in Thailand actually as far as expat women go) I am edged towards the idea that majority of men in Thailand are like this. I think where the sex industry is so open and available you are going to have this kind of behaviour. I certainly haven't visited any other country where the men are complaining about bargirls/gogo bars and whatnot. It definitely seems to dominate the topic of conversations more amongst expat males.

However, I will also go onto say that I have met a few men who are absolutely disgusted by it all and don't like the idea of how exploited the sex industry is and frown upon it being a main topic of conversation. In my opinion... This is a refreshing minority and I'm always happy to meet these kind of men. :)

Like you, I also take breaks from the forum but again its like a sick habit really... I do find it amusing to read. :D

Post deleted. Once again this forum is not about you. Troll again and it won't be simple deletion tommo
