Non-O Visa: Just Applied For..!

Featured Replies

Hi eveyone,

If you have been following my topics you will know that last month i just cleared my overstay and returned to Thailand on a 30 day arrival visa. The days were ticking down and i hadn't started a thing except for some research on how to apply for my Non-o visa. After asking for many opinions and advice and making my own decisions i decide to set out for Bkk. My Thai bf took another week off work to go with me and see if we could get this sorted instead of having to leave the country to Loas to apply for the non-o visa there.

So we set of at 5am Tuesday morning, dragging our son out of bed we hit the road to Bkk. Heading straight to the British Embassy. We arrived at the British Embassy at 08:45, going straight in and with my typed out affimation form i get my que ticket and wait to be called. I was called to the counter with in 10 mins, paid the fee of 3,380 baht and the nice lady said " Wait 30 mins and your affimation letter will be done" so i waited around there and after 25 mins my name was called and it was done. Stamped signed and ready to be translated. I left the Embassy and walked straight to the translation office, asked for quick service translation and it was done all correct within an hour. Two things done by midday..!!

The next day we left the hotel at 06:30 and headed for Chengwattana Consular Affairs office, just our luck there was no traffic jams at all so we arrived at the office at 07:00 but early was better than being late and having a long que. The doors were opened at 07:30 but floor 3 wasn't open till 08:00 so we just waited around for half hour, once the national anthem finshed we was allowed to go up. I couldn't believe the amount of people already! Good job we came early, I handed my documents in: The Affimation freedom of marriage from the Embassy, Affirmation translated in to Thai and a copy of my passport, i asked for express service, my que was called to the supervisors office, he signed my forms and sent me to wait outside where my que was called again where i paid the 800 Baht for express service and was told to wait 3 hours. Which was good considering on the internet i was told it was a whole day trip to the place. I hung around there and at 10:00 my name was called and my documents were legalized..!! Woohoo.!!

We hopped straight into and taxi and headed for Bangrak district office to get legally married, We asked the reception lady if our document were correct: Copy of my passport, The affirmation freedom to marriage letter both legalized, My sons birth certificate, My bfs house registration, id card and filled in the form of the distict office there. The que was really long we arrived at 11:00 and we were married at 14:00 :) Finally we are married.....!!! After that we headed straight to Sunbelt office to sort our documents ready for my non-o application. Yes, we had all are documents in hand so we handed them all over to the lady who was sorting my non-o visa case at sunbelt out, paid the fee and made an appointment for friday morning.

Friday morning came, we travelled to the immigration office together and got our que number. Our number as called, documents checked, fee of 2,000 baht paid, given our appointment date in 15 days time and we was ready to go.....!!

So yes, i'm on track now not long and hopefully i'll have be holding a year visa in no time. I still recommend Sunbelt for sorting documents out as they know what their doing and have quite good connections within immigration, the fees are worth paying and it saves the hassle that immigration might cause if doing it by youself, and saves forgetting any documents at all, that is my opinion of cause.

Thanks for reading and i'll update everyone with my year extension news :)

Actually you should first obtain a 90 day non immigrant visa entry which the 2,000 baht pays for and then after 60 days return for a one year extension of stay using a TM.7 form and paying 1,900 baht (which will be the procedure each year). Good that all is on track now.
