Retirement Visa Can I Apply Now

Featured Replies

Cheers

Appreciate help with this question.

My Non Imm "O" visa from Thai Consulate in the USA to visit friends/family expired August 15th. I made an exit/re-entry on August 14th and am on my last 90 day stamp that expires November 11th. I would like to extend my stay based on retirment.

I deposited over 800K BHT in a passbook savings on July 27th this year and meet the age qualification for 50+.

Can I apply for retirement visa extension now ?

Thanks

DD

Yes. Apply anytime within the final 30 days of your permission to stay

And you won't lose any days be applying early. The extension will start from Nov. 11th anyway.

I have a general question which I hope some of you can help me with. I am planning to apply for my retirement visa soon. However, I will still continue to come in and out of Thailand, on a monthly basis. Would I still need to do the 90 days report or does each re-entry start a new 90 day process?

Thanks.

Each re-entry starts a new 90 day process, so you will only be doing them when you stay in Thailand for 90 days in a row.

Do you mean a visa or a one year extension of stay from immigration for retirment? If extension of stay remember you need a multi re-entry permit for that travel and no 90 day address reports will be due until you actually stay in Thailand for 90 continuous days or more. Each entry starts the count at one.

Fantastic information. Thanks very much. Basically this means that I can pretty much skip the 90 day reports as I don't ever stay in Thailand for more than 30 days in a row :)

Cheers
