Featured Replies

Hi All

I have booked a flight for the wife to go back to Thailand from Heathrow London.

With EVA Air, she can have hand luggage bag and a suit case. but I would like her to take another suit case.

Does anyone know the extra cost for this???? And have a contact phone number. Been looking on there web site and cant make head or tail of the table.. Dum Dum LOL!!!!

She is flying Ecomomy.

Thanx

Hi

Looking at the table, am I correct in thinking that, Thailand is Zone 2, and the cost is 25 USD which is £15.61 for each KG over the allowance ???

I thinking I must have this wrong, because an extra suitcase could weigh 20 KG, so 20 KG x £15.61 = £312.20 ...

I remember last time when I flew with BA, I could go online and add extra suitcases for peanuts....... Im confused.... :( ...

Am I reading this right ???

If she's flying from LHR to BKK she's flying from Zone 4 to Zone 2 and the cost is 60USD per kilo. Different airlines, different charges.

You don't even get any extra baggage allowance if you sign up for their FF club.

GULP !!!! Oh my Buddha.. So am I correct in thinking then it is 60 USD which is £37.48 per KG .

So any extra suitcase which weighs 20 KG would cost me 20KG x £37.48 = £749.60

Realy ????

This cant be right...

What can I do, any ideas ????

That doesn't make any sense at all. I'm flying back from the US in a few weeks with United. An extra suitcase, up to 50lbs, is $70.

If you were flying with EVA that extra case would be $160 or $180 depending on which coast you were flying from. The US uses the 'piece' system rater than baggage weight.

Flights to and from North America Piece System, used to be two up to 50 pounds now it is generally one piece 23 kilos/ 50 pounds

Rest of the World weight system either 20 or 23 kilos. Can technically check in two pieces as long as they don't go over the weight limit.

OP it is a shock without doubt, the only thing you could do is call the Cargo office in the UK and ask for a price.

My wifes flight is from Heathrow London UK - Thailand BKK

So I am looking at a cost of £50 - £100 ???? For an extra suitcase of a weight of 20KG ???

This must happen all the time to other people ??? Would love to hear what I can do.

No you're looking at a cost of £700. Flights to and from the UK are calculated on the weight system. It doesn't happen to other people because they do a bit of research before they book tickets. The best thing your wife can do is to travel with one suitcase inside the weight limit.

The rates quoted are accurate, call EVA in LHR and they will confirm £45 a kilo.

Options

-Pack lighter

-Upgrade to Laurel Class 30 kilo allowance

-Send by cargo will be less 30% but lots and lots of hassles

-Buy a second ticket for a friend and use their allowance
