my thai friend who is in America at present posted a picture on Facebook of himself standing in front of You Tube Head quarters

his Thai friend posted a comment I asume it was about the picture. this is Bings translation, Health Super Thunderbolt Shot Past >???does that make any sense to you or is it some kind of code.ive had other traslations by Bing from other friends and i cant believe what I read.

Bing is the worst translation engine ever....

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

Incidentally, when I search for ThaiVisa app on my iPad there are:No Results for "ThaiVisa"

How do you get it?

I find Bing pretty good for translations actually. Especially since it knows 555 is 'haha'

Babylon and Thai2English seem to be the best for me though.

Please post the Thai.

Otherwise there's no way of guessing what that guy might have meant. And never ever rely on automatic translation for anything, between languages as different as these two - it works to some extent on very dry technical texts, but is poor for creative writing or informal banter. Tabloid Thai is also a language onto itself.

It does not help that the majority of Thai on the web is (often deliberately) incorrectly spelled repetitions of current slang phrases that will be out of fashion in another 5 years.

Cf. OMG! What a n00b, LMAO, herp-e-derp. - run that through Google Translate and see what you get. It's how kids communicate these days.

sorry but i dont have a thai keyboard, and i dont know how to send the post from Facebook.

You can copy and paste thai script from facebook :)

1. Left click to the left of the first letter of the Thai text, hold the left mouse button down and drag the mouse over the text so that everything is highlighted.

2. Hover the mouse over the highlighted Thai text, press the Right mouse button, pick "copy".

3. Open this Thaivisa thread in your browser. Click on 'Reply'. In the text box, right click and in the menu, choose Paste.

4. The Thai text you copied is now pasted into your post.

thanks Tim, well Bing got one word right HEALTH.

Normally, I find "Google Translate" gives a much more understandable translation than "Bing", but in your case it translates it to:

"I know with my dog"!

Google translate and Bing are pretty useless in getting any accuracy when translating Thai. Best to use either http://www.thai-language.com/translate/ or http://www.thai2english.com/online/ as they give a proper translation for each word. Not sure why google translate is so bad, perhaps it to do with how Thai sentence structure differs from English.
