Cabinet meeting agrees with the private sector’s proposal to establish tax free area to support trading and investment

Government spokesperson Surapong Suebwonglee (สุรพงษ์ สืบวงศ์ลี) said that the cabinet meeting agrees with proposal from private sectors to set up tax free zones at Chiang Saen (เชียงแสน) district of Chiang Rai (เชียงราย) and to establish products transfer points at Chiang Khong (เชียงของ) district.

Such proposal has an aim to expand the industrial estate and to develop the management system. Moreover, such plans could also stimulate the investment and the National Economy and Social Development and related agencies have been assigned to work on the matter.

Moreover, private sectors have also suggested tourism development strategies in the Northern provinces by providing air-conditioned bus from Chiang Mai to other neighbouring provinces.

The meeting has assigned Tourism Authority of Thailand to conduct study on such strategies to cover the marketing areas and the target.
