November 3, 201213 yr I am planning on Running in the Bangkok Marathon this month on November 18th and I was just wondering if anyone else from Chiang Mai was planning on going. If anyone is then please feel free to PM me.
November 3, 201213 yr Dont encourage them; last time I saw 2 fat falang run the marathon..........one ran in short bursts; the other ran in burst shorts
November 3, 201213 yr Now you tell me where were you 55 years ago? At any rate I wish you well. It is a hell of a race. In the heat and smog of Bangkok it will be a real challenge.
November 4, 201213 yr Hi Newington. My brother and I ran the marathon last year. Well - he run the full one, I ran the half one. We both found it to be the hardest race we had ever done, mainly due to the heat. Decided to give it a miss this year. Best of luck though! Will you be running the Chiang Mai marathon on Christmas Eve? I did it the last two years and will be running again (half) this year. Are you doing the other Chiang Mai races? Cheera
November 5, 201213 yr Wow im impressed here given the age bracket in Thai visa and the general lack of sporting people here as money talks and looks are just not important here. I applaud people running that far, i could never do that i'm not build to run. One of these days im going to row half a marathon but that will be in an air conditioned room. I think the heat will be the biggest problem for anyone doing something like this. I wish you all the best of luck and hope you complete it

Most people sport for weight control. I sport for my health and weight control, but having good stamina is definately a good thing. That is why i do a lot of rowing next to all my weightlifting. What i mean was that many guys here just don't sport and let themselves go because there is no need to look good like in the west. Not saying everyone.. i get grumpy when i dont workout i need it to release energy.
