Hunt for man suspected of kidnapping sister -in-law

Phitsanulok police are hunting down a man suspected of abducting his sister-in-law and stealing her money.

PHITSANULOK: -- Witnesses have said they saw Kittisak Kong-artharn, 40, talking to Ploenta Pradubsuk, 56, a senior official at Phitsanulok Culture Office, on Saturday when she was suddenly pushed into her own pickup truck just before it sped away.

"A security camera showed Ploenta withdrawing Bt40,000 from an ATM in Chat Trakan district on Saturday night," Pol Colonel Weerasomporn Yoosisakul, deputy provincial police chief, said yesterday.

A taskforce would now take charge of this case, which attracted wide public attention.

The footage showed two robust men accompanying Ploenta to the ATM.

"We have instructed all police stations in Provincial Police Region 6 to watch out for Ploenta's pickup," he said.

Kittisak, a native of Kanchanaburi, had married Ploenta's younger sister Tida.

Chaiyaporn Thongpradit, Ploenta's 27-year-old driver, told police that his boss had often told her close friends that if anything bad happened to her, the perpetrator must be Kittisak.

"Ploenta said Kittisak blamed her for his divorce from Tida," Chaiyaporn said.

The driver, who has been working for Ploenta for about two years, said she used to live only with her aunt, Chaluay Haocharoen.

"But in mid-2011, she told me to drive to Kanchanaburi to pick up her sister Tida.

She's a teacher who got partially paralysed and couldn't take care of herself anymore," he said.

Ploenta cared for Tida until she passed away, he said. Tida left Ploenta an estate worth nearly Bt2 million.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kittisak.

"We're now checking all resorts and hotels around Chat Trakan," Weerasomporn said.

Really sad that people believe they can do this. As having family relatives on my wife's kidnapped and never seen again, some years back, so I know how traumatic that can be for the family and there is definitely no peace. I hope they find this guy as every day that passes usually results in no chance of finding her alive.

I might be able to understand stealing her money under certain circumstances; but Stealing her too.

Sad to say where money is involved it frequently ends up with the person holding the money committing Thai suicide! I hope its not the case but...........

So what are you implying about her estate?

Maybe she had some savings from when she was able to work? Maybe owned a bit of land and a house in Kanchanaburi? Maybe she had life insurance or life assurance? An estate doesn't necessarily comprise cash alone.

It's not too difficult to build up an estate of that value over a few years, particularly if you perhaps don't have family financial obligations and you're reasonably careful.

Your ennuendo (unjustified by any facts) here is that something is dodgy and you do indeed want to draw attention away from the crime and to yourself as being being someone perceptive.

Use your imagination. I can think of several plausible explanations.

How about from whatever accident left her partially handicapped. Could have maybe been a settlement from a car wreck. Myself I can think of many ways someone could have had 2 million Baht left in their estate when they passed. What is 2 million Baht? 60000 US? Not a lot in the big picture is it now?
