Harryvb
Halo What we like to now is homuch to pay for the bungalows on Koh Chang , the one we find using internet are al above 1000 or 1500 bath.or even more. We always have good accomodation for arround 500 till 800 bath , is this on Koh Chang not possible ? Regards Harry
Jai Dee
You are unlikely to pay less than 1,000 baht if the resort is on the sea side of the road. You may find cheaper prices on the lardward side of the road. In any case, it's high season at the moment, so prices are high everywhere.
Artisan
Unfortunately, Koh Chang has gone the way of all the other newly found paradises. Thirteen years ago, a visitor could go to Koh Chang, stay in a half decent beach hut, have a few beers, eat some good Thai food and still come back with change out of a ten bob note. Nowadays, expect to pay 1,000 baht to 2,000 baht for a decent bungalow, substantially more for one of these so-called 'resorts'. There are still some beach kennels going for between 200 baht and 300 baht a night but I'd avoid these unless you are really strapped for cash. Koh Chang in the low season is best avoided because "low season" in Koh Chang means torrential rain, heavy seas and a reduced ferry service. raro
Thanks a lot Artisan, I was planning a getaway with some friends to KC this coming weekend...we try since days to get something booked, but it looks like we are way too late. Hope it won't be as Songkran three years ago...the ferry kept going until 10 pm and everything was fully booked at ridiculous prices. People were sleeping on the beach, in the cars etc. We escaped to Koh Maak that time...

Artisan
Is there a difrence between the beaches ?We going in april , is it possible to find a quit beach ? Do you now this place "Baan Rim Nam" ? Harry The beaches become quieter as you head to the southern end of the island. April, after Songkhran, is a good time to go. I've never heard of Baan Rim Nam but you could try the Koh Chang website: Koh Chang Information & Accommodation I've stayed on Koh Chang frequently and my last visit was at the end of April last year. My family and I stayed at Kai Bae Beach. Check out these pictures of the beach and islands there....it was very relaxing. Do people standing on the piers with sings(offers) for accomodation (like on koh Lanta ?) I suggest that anyone going to Ko Chang uses the Centre Point Ferry....passengers are 100 baht per person one way but cars go for free. As you are queuing for the ferry there will be agents offerring to book your accommodation ready for when you arrive. It has worked well for me in the past. Near the boarding area there are booking desks also and the agents will show you pictures of the accommodations available.

Regards Harry Harry, I know Chonburi, Ko Samet and Chantaburi extremely well. It's difficult to answer your question without knowing what you want to do in each place, do you want to stay and do you have your own transport? The last time that I was on Ko Chang, I stayed in Kae Bae Beach Grand View Hotel. There were six of us and we had two huge adjoining rooms for 2,500 baht per night. Both rooms had two king sized beds, one room had a dining/lounge area and the other room had a small kitchen. There was no pool but the beach was only 100 metres away...albeit down a very steep entrance to the hotel. A few good bars and restaurants nearby also. The hotel had a good car park. richb2004
I was in Koh Chang last week and stayed for five nights. We changed accommodation four times, through choice to find the right place. The first night we stayed in a place very close to the beach (white Sands), and it cost 1000Baht. It was a very small basic room, but with a TV, a fridge and AC. It was close to the road and a bit noisy. This was called ‘Alina’. The next night we stayed in a more up market place that directly faced and looked onto the sea. That was 2200 Baht. I can’t remember the name but was on White Sands and one of the more up market looking places. The next night we stayed a little distance from the beach in a very nice resort in a hut. We had a fridge, TV, AC and very nice room. That was 1600 Baht. This was called ‘Boutique Resort’. For the last two nights we got a good deal with a great hut resort. This was a short walk from the beach and very secluded. We had AC, TV, fridge and pleasant balcony. We got this at discount rate of 1000Baht through the diving centre w were using. I think this was called ‘Sabay Resort’. Apple seemed quite cheap, was close to the beach and half decent looking. It was full when we were there. I do think that you will struggle to find anything good for less than 1000Baht, unless you are ok to go with out AC.

maprao
Hi I booked a holiday in Koh Chang this year. This website here can be seen by following the link. It is in English German and French. It has 360 degree virtual pictures of all the beaches. It is in fact one of the best websites that I have see when researching a holiday (hat of to Ian ). http://www.kochangvr.com/ Circumstances prevented me getting there this year but will make it next time!
