Birth Certificate Long Version - Original/certified Copy? Uk Pasport

Featured Replies

I'm applying for UK passports for my children...

The one thing I'm not sure about is that on the list of documents they request an Original of my long version birth certificate.

I have my Original (short) version but I only have a certified copy of my long version which I bought online...

Has anyone applied for their childrens UK passport recently and can advice if the Certified Copy of the Long Version certificate is acceptable or not?

If that certified copy that you "bought online" came from the registrars of deaths, births and marriages in the UK, then yes, it is fine.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge/experience of this, i.e having used a Certified Copy??

Since you can go to the Embassy take both, they just make sure the documentation is in order and send the application to HK for you, am sure that they just send the application and not the documentation as it is their job to process the application locally first.

Yes.

Yes.

So you used a Certified Copy and it was ok?

You cannot get a "new" long version. I had lost mine years ago. I asked for a replacement and got a certified copy. Not copy, as in photocopy, but a copy.

That was OK with the embassy.
