Visa Extension Before Expiration Date

Featured Replies

HI,

I have a non-immigrant B visa and have to get an extension by Jan 12, 2013.

I plan to travel to the US from Dec 20 - Jan 20. Is it possible to get the extension before I leave or will it be too early from the expiration date?

30 days prior to expiration seems to be acceptable with most offices.

Yep.

Apply any time within the final 30 days.

Agree with Beechguy some will let you come even before 35, 36 days Just tell them your situation and go early.

If you said which office it might help.

Nonthaburi only 30 days before I tried 34 days before and was told to return again to do my extension in 4 or more days/

Telephone immigration to ask?

Hi everyone,

Just to give an update. I am going to Cheng Watana, DOMO, tomorrow because a colleague went to ask for me three weeks ago.

The immigration officers said they usually do not approve extensions way before the date, as we are suppose to plan our travels around our visa stamps. They said to come back with my plane ticket and explain my situation fully to see if they will approve of it.

Wish me luck everyone!

It you just go on the 13-20th there should not be any problem - they allow up to 30 days early and you plan to be here.

As has been said, you can do it 30 days early. So going next week would be better.
