Every little helps, but I think they are going to be a very long way from the humour and risque almost uncensored reporting in farangland.

for example....At a news conference, a journalist said to the politician running for the presidency, "Your secretary said publicly that you have a small p£ni$. Would you please comment on this."

"The truth is," replied the politician, "that she has a big mouth."

Its completely useless journalism but it sells papers; i think there is sensationalism here but its grim reading, murders, rapes, defenestration jumpers together with the graphic crime scene photos.

not seen the november bonny baby competition yet, thats as common as a horoscope in farangland.

This is just a personal opinion, but they have so little content that interests me, that I never look at them unless there is a specific story that someone usually posts on Thai Visa.

I tend to agree, though I did find out via the Chiang Mai Post that Lin Ping was 3 years and 3 months old on August 27th.

Not a lot of people know that.

I am somewhat perplexed at the posts thus far. Local news sheets (web sites) are for local news. National and international news obviously is available elsewhere. Eyecatcher seems to be referring to the daily British press. Neither he, nor UG, nor Uptheos seems to have been paying attention. (I quite agree, of course, with Uptheos that the age of the panda is not worth a nod, but he otherwise seems to have posted just to get a laugh.

Others, I would hope, have been noticing the changes and would comment on newsworthiness, timeliness and overall quality of these news sources. I have not said the new publications and changes are all good, but there are definite changes.

If the news is a murder, a car in the moat, or a change in drinking hours and the location of police roadblocks, Thai Visa Chiang Mai's "reporters" are on the scene almost immediately with much commentary following! But there are other things going on in town. If you are not familiar with them, then spend some time exploring the three news sources I have posted. You might be surprised.
