Dozing Driver wrecks 18 wheel truck on Pattaya main highway

PATTAYA:--Residents and motorists can count themselves lucky in Pattaya Today, as an 18 wheel truck crashed when the driver fell asleep at the wheel

The 49 year old Surin born driver survived the one vehicle crash with no injuries after he fell asleep driving the mammoth vehicle along the Sukhumvit opposite the Mazda Showroom.

By some miracle, no other vehicle was involved in the one man cannonball run

The truck didn’t fare quite so well though and his employers will left wondering why he fell asleep on the Rayong to Lam Chabang run, loaded with 40 ft containers for delivery to the port. The truck cab was severely damaged as it mounted the central reservation

his employers will left wondering why he fell asleep

Let me make a wild guess - because he was tired ?

I'm guessing truck driving is a boring job. :(

If your'e paid Trip Money....you have to drive 22hrs per day to make the basic wage.....the other 2 hrs is for loading fuel to keep driving, and maintenance to vehicle.....Forget about the sleep and going for a crap.....

This was a problem in Australia in the 1960's....and that works out about right (50 yrs behind).

But most of us (foreigners) here, cant accept that Thailand isnt the same as our home countries....as long as no one got hurt, thats the main thing I surpose.

The employer was probably as much to blame for insisting their drivers work very long hours. Why did that news reach the paper? That sort of thing is happening nearly every day in Thailand with the truck and bus drivers. Why do you never see them having their tachographs checked at the side of the road by the police? Don't tell me, they don't use tachographs. TIT.

Careless drivers like this should loose their privilege to drive permanently before they kill our children or family members.

If it was loaded with 40ft containerS it must have been a very long truck.

Maybe he wanted to kill himself
