Can "Skype" only be used sitting next to your PC ?

An interesting inquiry! I believe the answer to be “yes”, but a more interesting uncertainty would be suppose you had a mobile phone capable of logging on to the Internet, and from there connecting to Skype.

Would this produce an overall less expensive call, implementing a mobile phone and Skype?

Take Care,

If you're talking literaly next to the computer, there are wireless bluetooth headsets that you can use with skype on the computer. If you mean you can use one of those phones that will run off off a wireless network somewhere else, I'm not sure they have those for Skype yet.

But Skype's website does have some other wireless options if you check under the "products" tab. One is a VoSKY Call Center which looks like you call it and then it'll connect to a Skype contact. Looks like you have to leave the computer on though.
