November 20, 201213 yr we are driving from Chiang Mai - Chiang rai and back, is there any sightseeing place which can be covered on the way?
November 20, 201213 yr We where driving from Chiang Mai back to CR,and the driver turn of and showed us a temple-bye the way-the first and only temple I have seen here, whit almost only woman and children. This temple is really beautyful. I have tried to look for an adress, but are not able to find it-my wife found a video-and I turned on translation, and it said-ancient city of Pa Pao. Here are some pictures I took when we where there-I will leave 3 here and the others in the - image of Chiang Rai section.
November 24, 201213 yr Just bumping this along ... I'm sure this has been asked by many an inexperienced traveler and answered by the knowledgeable lot on this Forum. Could you point me in the direction of an answer please as I will be driving the Thai gf and her 2 parents along this route in 3 days time and would also appreciate any feedback and/or advice ... .

November 24, 201213 yr If you have a chance to stop by the Charin Resort you'll find some of the best pies and cakes in Thailand. A good spot to take a break on the way to Chiang Rai. http://www.chiangrai2.com/E/rooms_charin_garden_resort_chiang_rai.php

Not sure if we caught it on a bad day. No carrot cake either. was disappointed with the place. Iain

December 24, 201213 yr If you have a chance to stop by the Charin Resort you'll find some of the best pies and cakes in Thailand. A good spot to take a break on the way to Chiang Rai. http://www.chiangrai..._chiang_rai.php Thanks for this link. I stayed there last year and forgot the name of it.. Great cakes!.................. The accommodation was cheap and cheerful on the river front across the bridge.. It was the first time I had felt the cold climate in Thailand and it was fantastic! I will be back there next week for a night or 2..
December 24, 201213 yr I drive this a few times a week. If time allows, I do the loop, up one way CM - CR on 118 and return first going south on 1 and across at Phayao On the way is a nice park or two next to the river in the first third and on the return after Phayao is a nice water fall along the road
