Returning To Thailand

Featured Replies

I am 54 years old and I am returning to LOS. I need to stay 6 months or so and then I will make up my mind to stay longer or go back to work. I will enter on a 30 day On Arrival.. I am from the US but I am working in Afghanistan. What is the best way to stay 6 months? Can I get a Visa in Dubai? I will be staying in Jomtien.

You might want to get a tourist visa first, as with a 30 day visa exempt entry (not a visa on arrival) you might not get be allowed to board the plane to Thailand. Some airlines are very strict in this, others don't bother at all.

Not much details about applying in Dubai. You can ask there for a non-O visa based on being 50 or a toruist visa if they refuse.

Without a visa or with a tourist visa you can inside Thailand extend your stay by 1 year by simply going to your embassy and make a sworn affadivid that you earn at least 65,000 a month. Being over 50 that would qualify you for an extension of stay of stay based on being 50+. You would need to go to your embassy in the first week of arrival and then apply for a conversion to a non-immigrant visa for 2,000 baht. That will give you a stay of 90 days. A week or so before the 90 days are finsihed you go back to tour embassy for another letter confirming your income and now for 1,900 baht you apply for a 1 year extension of stay.

If you get a non-O visa in Dubai, you simply get the 1 year extension for 1,900 baht with the letter from your embassy. You would apply for the extension after being about 70 days in the country, at day 90 at the latest.
