Firework prank leads to serious hand injury for drunken Laborer in East Pattaya

PATTAYA:--Fireworks should only be handled by responsible adults. If you are drunk and playing with fireworks there is a good chance something will happen that will ruin your night which is exactly what happened to a 40 year old construction worker on Tuesday Night after he destroyed part of his hand when a firework he was holding, exploded earlier than he thought.

The incident occurred in Soi Nuen Plub Wan in East Pattaya just after 9.30pm and resulted in a serious hand injury for Khun Luan who had finished work and was drinking with friends. He decided to play a prank on his work colleague and intended to walk up behind him with a lit firework and throw it in his direction. By his own admission he had been drinking all night and was intoxicated and later regretted the decision to play the prank which went horribly wrong.

Khun Luan lit the fuse on the homemade firework which is in the shape of a small ball. The length of the fuse wire was only 3cm which gave him only seconds to release the firework he lit while in his hand.

Reminds me a Thai I was worried about once, when he and his mates would start playing with their guns when pissed and stoned. Sure enough about 18 months later "Bang" ya man blew his foot off. Ouch.

Hundreds of similar incidents & blindings caused the Australian Government to ban private Fireworks use Illegal.

Still have accidents but far fewer .
