Can My 17 Yr Old Daughter Work In A Cafe?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am an Australian volunteering with a foundation in northern Thailand. My 17 yr old daughter wants to get some training in a cafe, as she aims to go back to Australia next yr for Uni and wants to get a part time job there.

I have been told you must be 18 to get a work permit and therefore can not work in the cafe. Strictly speaking she would be getting training rather than employment ie she would not get any form of payment. Any ideas on how we can do this legally?

Thanks for any help offered

John

if she is not thai she can't do a job a thai can do...you also need a work permit to do voluntary work in thailand as well

The only way to do it is if it is part of her training at an educational facility in Thailand.
