Entry Visa And Extensions

Featured Replies

A friend of mine from the UK in his twenties has just entered Thailand on a 30 day visa. What are the options for extending this and how many times if any can that be done? Also as he is travelling around Asia he wishes to return to Thailand in the next 3 or 4 months is there any problem with that? I assume he would have to go to Chaeng Wattana for any extensions.

He seems to have a visa exempt entry rather than a visa and they can not be extended (although you can obtain 7 extra days to depart by making application/paying 1,900 baht). To stay longer he can obtain new visa exempt of 15 days land entry or 30 days air entry or visit a Consulate outside Thailand to buy a real tourist visa allowing 60 days on entry and extension of 30 days. There is no limit on stay and getting a new entry/visa after a few months will not be a problem.

The only extension he can get is an additional 7 days.

He can leave and re-enter Thailand an unlimited time. Each time he enters by land he gets 15 days, by air he will get 30 days. For a longer stay a tourist visa is advised, this will give 60 days and can be extended by 30 days. Apply in a neighbouring country.
