Residence Certificate Problem

Featured Replies

After two trips to immigration (Nan) in order to get a cerificate so I can renew my 5 year drivers licence. I was told I could not as I only hold a multiple entry non O based on marriage (I do not show money but have to leave the country every 90 days). The officer said it was a new rule! Has anybody ever heard of this one? Apparently you should have a yearly extention based on either marriage or retirement. Does anybody have an idea how I can get this form? I did hear you could possibly get one at the local police station or the Ampur office...Possible?

Many immigraiton offices require you to do 90 day reporting before they will issue the letter.

An alternative is getting a certificate of residence from your embassy. Sometimes people succeed extending their license with a letter from the local amphur or police station.

I used letter from Non Sung amphur twice in Korat for license renewal.

Thanks Mario, I already got my 90 day report done in Nan. But it didn't make any difference! I'm not keen on the embassy route as for sure the Brits will charge an arm and a leg! So maybe the Ampur office or the Police.

The OP said he is on an O visa and has to leave every 90 days. Then he said "I already got my 90 day report done".

Sorry to confuse...I have to register my place of residence within 24 hrs after re-entering the country. i.e. After my visa run every three months. Hope thats clear now.
