Visa Extension Period

Featured Replies

Hi all - I have a non-immigrant O 12 month visa issued in Brisbane Australia which expires 5 march 2013

Got a stamp in Mae Sai yesterday which takes me through to 26 Feb 2013

When I turn up at Mae Sai on 26 Feb for my next stamp will I get another 3 months?

Cheers

Yes you will.

Hi M71

You state that you obtained a non-immigrant O 12 month visa from the Thai Consulate in Brisbane.

When I contacted them recently I was advised that an O visa entry is available for 90days only (at a cost of AUD90). The alternative is a multiple entry visa at a cost of AUD225, presumably 3 entries at 90 days each.

Therefore, did you actually receive a single visa for 12 months, or multiple visas for 90 days each with compulsory border crossings after 90 days?

Seems obvious to me that the OP is talking about about a multi entry Non-Immigrant O visa valid for one year = 90 days stays and border crossings.

This appears to be the case. Nevertheless, perhaps there is a one year visa without having to do quarterly border runs.

Yes, that would be an extension based on retirement/marriage/ed visa/work permit. There is no non-imm that grants a one year visa without 90 day visa runs.

Yes, that is the non-immigrant OA visa, used for retirement purposes (as opposed to an extension of stay for retirement).

The OA visa gives one year on entry and only requires reporting to the local immigration office each 90 days.
