Falang Vendor In Yaowarat

Just browsing the rival newspaper site that we can't link to or paste here.

Found a short but fascinating video: The farang yum woonsen vendor of Bangkok

He's French with a Thai wife or girlfriend - he says wife but the caption says girlfriend. And he's both cooking and selling on the street.

Now, how is it that he hasn't been arrested? Does he have a work permit? I think he's probably doing a job that's restricted, anyway.

Curious.

If he isn't being paid it's ok. Years ago there was a story about an English girl selling noodles on Khao San Road. It was her friend's cart and she just liked the experience. She didn't get busted, even after it was in the news.

Why aren't all the farangs working on the internet here arrested ?

Why aren't all the farangs running girlie bars arrested ?

Why aren't all those on false education visas arrested ?

Why aren't all the English teachers without degrees arrested ?

This farang may have being a chef in his work permit and own the business with his wife. He maybe an employee of his wifes business. Who knows ?

Maybe no one else really cares.

Maybe no one else really cares.

Ain't that the truth.

If the Thai authorities were to take down all the falungs that have or are bending the laws in Thailand, such as: property, land and business ownerships, illegally working, the forever tourists and so on, then I guess that 90% of all the falungs that are presently here in the LOS, would be gone and back in Farangland or hussling if some other country within a week.

If it's possible to work as a chef/cook here, then who's to say that you can't prepare noodles? They're not all that different from pasta. Who knows? Maybe he just pays a small protection fee, or maybe he's employed by his wife and it's her business.
