Why Doesn't Morchit Bts Reach The Morchit Bus Station?

To answer your question in the title -- Because the BTS depot at Mo Chit is built on the site of the former bus terminal, so the terminal had to move somewhere else. The current terminal site was the nearest plot of land available at the time (though the land is owned by SRT).

I believe the original idea was to have a combined BTS terminal, bus station, shopping mall where the BTS terminal building is now but for some reason (money ran out, conflicts between state agencies, whatever) it never happened.

Basically, yes :) I believe there is still an old sign hanging off the car park fence near the base of one of the stairways to the BTS station that even says something like "Bangkok Terminal" or whatever the name of hte planned development was.

Bad or no coordination. The MRT, which passes very near the bus station, doesn't go there either.

It's not a problem for the bus companies, since people have to come there anyway, it's not a problem for BTS, since people are taking the sky-train anyway, it's not a problem for the government, since there's no tea money or kickbacks to be earned from coordinating things. People who take the bus upcountry are people who can't afford to go by car. People who can't afford to go by car don't count in the big scheme of things, so why worry about them?

take the bus 134 costs 8 baht.

NO- this is a real govmt. bus -thus the red ones are free or cost 6,50 bt/ride, but most are old-style AC-cost minimum of 10 bt now.

Plus that about another 12 routes serve the 2. f.e. 136, 138, 139, 3, 104, 517, 77 and more Thats why on the buses the BUSterminal is named as Mochit2.

About ANY part of bigcity BKK has a direct citybus to this Mochit2-only stupid farang think they have to use the BTS.

Its a temporary lease-expires next year or so and SRT is as such planning to make this site the big BKk central station-might be useful for when -Buddha knows when- these ''hi-speed'' trains may come-direct to China.

Longer term plans want a relocation of Mochit as BUS trml to the north end- Don Muang has been mentioned, more likely some still empty spot just beyond Rangsit-when either BTS or whatever will run there is extended to there. Then also the traific-hold-up slow trains will finish-and long-dist trains end at Bang Sue-also relieveing the city of those iron monsters. HuaLampong is a listed building and may be turned into something historic.

BTW-if you moan about this- then start moaning about why new SaiThai has been moved some 10 kms further out of town some 2-3 years ago. Reason? Was yet another ploy by some redshirt rich uncle, who owned this land and saw the chance to buld a shopping centre-annex bus in wasteland.

Actually, some of us farang prefer the BTS/MRT because it's cleaner, safer, faster and more comfortable than the city buses. But thanks for letting us know how you feel about us.

I must be another stupid farang then as well.

Like dekestone, I would rather pay the extra and use the BTS for its comfort and convenience.

'direct citybus' ? - directly into traffic.

So it remains a problem for us Farangs.
