Just use the most appropriate or convienient passport on entry to a country. Always use the same one on departure.
lopburi3 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 You should be here on your Thai passport and exit on it. Then enter Europe using your American passport and exit on it. Use your Thai passport to re-enter Thailand. Use Thai passport for each and every entry/exit of Thailand. Use other passport for other countries.

nayost Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 thanks for your help folks!!! hopefully i'll have a smooth trip! one more question... will they ask me to show both passports? if i leave with thai and come back with thai... aren't they going to wonder... where did i go for a week?
lopburi3 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 The airline is going to ask to see both passports to prove you have or do not need a visa to your destination. This will be before you enter immigration area. Many people do this so it should not be a major problem.

Which is exactly what my wife does with her Thai and British passports. However, Nayost, which country and for how long and what purpose? Most European countries allow US citizens to enter as tourists for a limited time without a visa, but this time period varies. For example in the UK it is 6 months, but in France it is 90 days. If you are going for any purpose other than a tourist or visitor, e.g. study or work, then you will need a visa. If you haven't already done so then you should check with the appropriate embassy.

Thai immigration won't care where you have been when you return. My Thai passport is full of Thai exit and entry stamps, but hardly any from other countries.
Old Croc Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Australians are very happy about duel citizenship provisions. A Canadian who migrated to Australia 4 years ago won a gold medal for Australia at the winter Olympics this morning.
