Water Off. Can They Do It Without Removing The Meter?

Of course they must be able to turn the water off,

other wise how did they install the new water meter with out the water gushing out while they were doing it?

I was thinking to individual houses, not the whole street.

shut the inlet tap off ?

Pipe from the ground up to the meter. Pipe from meter to the house. No water though

The reason for asking is that I did not get a bill for the water. Saw a bill posted today into the letterbox asking for 1200 Baht for the water. 344 for water + 375 + 500.

If they have turned it off they have not removed the meter.

Most water systems, the main shutoff valve is before the meter, sometimes within 6 inches. Most of them in my area are installed like this.

apologies referring to my last answer. The stop cock is open.

May simply be no water, but the street is asleep so cannot ask people.

I'll maybe have to wait until tomorrow to phone the weater company.

are you directly connect to the mains or is it feeding a tank (possibly underground). maybe check your pump if you have a tank.

tomorrow being a public holiday there might be nobody at the water joint.

As the OP said that he got a bill with + + that means a reconnection fee is charged. I guess they will only charge a reconnection fee if he is actually disconnected.

Some of the estates in that area have a removable handle on the pipe leading to the meter. If the previous occupants left an unpaid bill (as happened to me when I moved in) the local water people send a guy to shut off the supply and take the handle away. That 500 baht amount on your bill might be the fine.
