PATTAYA:--The National Police Chief, Police General Adul, was in Pattaya on Tuesday and began the day at a National Police meeting at the Zign Hotel in North Pattaya. On Tuesday Night, as part of his commitment to make Pattaya a safer place for Tourists and residents, he conducted a visit of Walking Street which is Pattaya’s designated Tourist Safety Zone.

The General was welcomed to the street by Pattaya’s Tourist Police who are responsible for tourist safety there in the evenings. As part of the General’s commitment to Tourist Safety he encouraged the Tourist Police and Immigration Police based in Pattaya to take a more active role in dealing with crimes involving Tourists.

The General then moved onto Pattaya Police Station which has a new Superintendent following a well-documented poor performance from the previous Superintendent who was transferred to another post after being in the position for a matter of months. The General was given a tour of the station including the radio room where the General suggested a link should be established with the CCTV operation center based at Pattaya City Hall to allow Police to become aware of incidents as they happen and be in a position to use the CCTV system to collect evidence of crimes.

Thailand’s Top Policeman is Impressed with Pattaya Tourist Team

Pattaya: Attending a Police seminar in the city, Thailand’s most senior policeman took the time to visit the tourist policemen on Walking street

National Police Chief, Police General Adul, spent the day at a national convention in the city and on Tuesday evening visited the Police stations in the city along with Walking street, where he took the opportunity to meet the Foreign Police volunteers who keep the streets safe at night.

Since having a “non-Thai” working with the authorities is a comparative rarity, he chatted with volunteers along with Thais who work as a team to keep the tourist areas safe and enjoyable for visitors to the city.

The tourist safety zone was high on his agenda as the city, working with the Police, has designated it a priority for policing. Plans for the “high season” and the additional number of tourists were discussed and he took the time to compliment the team who have come a long way in the past few years, showing vast improvement in their techniques and handling of confrontational situations. Once considered almost comical, a combination of new leadership and more input from the authorities has seen them become a highly skilled team and, as a result, “after dark” crimes reduced.

what a great idea, who would of thought of the police actually using the cctv system, especially after cutting down all the trees. that explains why the police never use it, but Im surprised, not much, that no police in pattaya actually thought of this one. he should visit more often
