I've been jumping thru hoops trying to get my non-o multi extended for an extra year based on marriage & son

initially i got a 60 day extension to sort it out..

it seems now there are extra requirements being enforced regarding proof of residence

this really only effects people renting

i was asked to supply copies of the passport of the owner of the house in addition to the signed contract/photos etc etc

this can be a problem as many rented houses are dealt with by agents on behalf of non resident owners

also a letter (in addition to the contract) from the agent or owner confirming i was still there. (same type of rule as the paperwork needed to confirm your still married in addition to marriage certificate)

the only way around i was able to find was to have my rental contract re-drafted adding a line saying the agents company name and saying they were acting on behalf of the owner

then i had to supply copies of passport of the agent(person who signed the letter confirming i was still there) and also a copy of the agents company registration papers..

took me 5 visits to jomtien to get it all sorted out over 3 weeks

my agent was so astounded he said they were singling me out... however we spoke to the agents lawyer/accountant and she confirmed these are new requirements that are seemingly starting to be enforced and she was aware

The need for a Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from the Amphoe is nothing new.

The run around about the proof of residency seems a bit beyond normal but partly was because owner was not available to provide documents needed. The letter stating that you were truly residing at the residence at time of application for extension is normal.
