The first entry of 60 days on my tourist visa is nearly over and I wish to extend the visa by one month before leaving Thailand.

Do I have to go to Immigration at Chang Wattana or is there anywhere in downtown BKK that I can do this e.g. One Stop Rachada, Suan Plu, Chamchuri Square?

Correct. If in Bangkok that is the place to use. There are other offices available immediately outside Bangkok but you should have a hotel address in that area to be sure they accept. Chiang Watanna is actually a nice building - go down one floor for shopping/eating in a shopping mall atmosphere.
