Applying For A Thai Passport In Melbourne

Featured Replies

Hi

I was adopted from Thailand when I was a baby. I now an an Australian citizen. I have my Thai birth certificate and I would now like to apply for my Thai passport. Does anyone know if I can do this in Melbourne or if I have to go to Sydney or do it in Thailand.

Thank you

You can do it in Australia, without a problem.

Not sure about Melbourne, but just check their webiste and contact them to see which documents you need.

I believe new passports are only issued by Embassy located Consulates since the change to computer chips so that would be Canberra but perhaps the other Consulates can arrange.

The consulate in Sydney can do it also since it is an official Thai consulate and not an honorary like the one in Melbourne.

I got mine done in Melbourne last year. However, you have to book and wait for the couple of times per year the Camberra embassy staff come down with all the equipment.

Otherwise, you can apply for one at the consulate in Sydney or the embassy in Canberra throughout the year.

Don't know about Melbourne but you could try Brisbane.

No passports are not issued from the BNE consulate - same scenario as post #5
